I have a F350 Crew Cab 6.4 3.73 gears and love it. Ford did a great job on it, but the mileage is worse (12 MPG around town) than my last 6.0.

I talk to people like you that have had no issues. I wander if my Ford service was lacking (they could never fix my issues) or if some of us just had lemons. I looked at the new F450 but couldn't bring myself to buy another Navistar powered vehicle. I hope you have good luck if you purchase. The new truck drives awesome and turns like a Miata.
It could of been who was working on it that made your service lacking. I had issues that the dealer I bought mine from that tried numerous times to fix and could not for what ever reason? I took it to another dealer I was told had good diesel mechanic, issues were fixed the first time in, and no problems since... I am convinced there is a difference in diesel techs when it comes to working on the 6.0...

I bought a loaded '07 F350 for the team earlier this year as soon as the 6.4L was available and it's been great. Have 23K trouble free miles on it. Would buy another one if we had the need for it.

I have an 07/08 F-350 & just ordered an 08 F-450. I think the 6.4 is alot better but I had 04 & 05 6.0 & had no trouble & went to a v-10 in 06 & didn't like it at all.

Well I hate to say this since everyone else seems so happy, but I don't like my 08 F-450. I traded my 06 F-350 because it left me stranded twice on the road while towing. The 08 has already left me stranded once while towing. That was for a split radiator, and although there hasn't been a second time yet, it did spend 10 days in the shop for exhaust issues. The side of my new truck (white) was black!!! I haven't really driven it much since they repaired it to see if they really corrected the problem. The fuel mileage is terrible, 11 on the highway unloaded at low 70's, and 7.5 pulling the boat at about 70. Good luck. I think I'm going to trade it on a new GMC or Dodge if the loss isn't too much to stomach.

I agree, the fuel milage is not as good as previously, but I think you will see that across the board with the new emissions restrictions and ultra low sulfur diesel.

Chuck, what you have is purpose built truck. The F450 comes with 4.88 gears, very few have the 4.30's. That is the culprit on the mileage. Also the 450 is heavier due to larger suspension, brakes and what ever else on there to make it what it is. I have 2 friends that did the same thing, went out and bought 450's, one traded on F350, with 4.10 gears and he is very happy with the mileage and the other traded on a 3500 GMC with 3.73 gears who is happy with the mileage but not the truck, due to many issues. BUT he is a Ford guy, and just is really a complainer. The 08 250/350's come with 3.73 to 4.10's on the avarage, with a 3.55 gear out about now. Some info on this www.dieselstop.com Check it out, dont know how it would effect towing, some possible disadvantages.

I have 1 07 Chevy and 1 07 Ford, both good trucks, + and - on both. Drive them all and see if you can tow with them, that is where you will see the difference. If the F450's would come with 4.10 gears or 3.90's I would consider getting one, cause the one I drove for 2 days was nice, but mileage was not so nice. My 07 F350 pulls the Nortech fine, just ordered again one of each for the 08 model year. Good Luck Jeff

I just traded my 07 6.0L for the 08 6.4L and I am very pleased. The new truck tows very well and is much quieter than the last model. I am seeing about 13.5mpg with a small lift and 35"s.

The truck does tow well and is quieter, and does turn better. The mileage sucks but really isn't my big problem with the truck. Getting stranded is what bothers me with relatively new equipment.
