I should post some pics. the only new 6.7 scorp i have worked on (and waiting for parts) came off of the transport new with the MIL on.
So, i proceed in my normal diag. ck codes then ck oasis. 5 minutes later one service advisor comes walking back to my truck bay. he says "you working on a 2011 diesel? I have ford on the phone" so, i walk up and there is an engineer on the line. he says "im calling about the 2011 supercab copper in color that you are working on" I say "holy chit, you got cameras in the shop? is this some big brother stuff or what?" so anyways he tells me that they are getting these codes on some trucks. they are unsure why. the code is for the reductand line heater circuit malfunction. the line that the DEF travels through has a heater in it. like an exposed wire that they run current through to keep the line from freezing during cold weather operation. well, i have an open circuit. so, he wanted me to keep him posted.
so, like i said the heater is open. and thats why im getting the code. but then i start to look around. i find these big scratches on the frame and right there the line is crushed. i wonder how the hell? it has 2 miles on it...
figured it out and updated ford. this is transport damage. the truck driver wrapped the chain around the frame and reductant line and used his binder crushed it right there. got here and figured he didnt make the light come on.
so, i call the engineer back. he had me take many pictures and said that would make sense. said that they have about 50 trucks with that issue. but they were scratching their heads because you can tie the reductant line in a knot by hand and not harm the heater. but the crushing force of a chain just breaks the heater assy.
so, it felt kinda cool to be working with the big guys and possibly be one of the people involved in making this no longer happen.
and i cant remember the weight on the block but it is lighter by far. the block is made of compressed graphite/iron. i believe the rotating assy is like 600lbs lighter than a 6.4

Thanks for the input, I was about to pull the trigger on your '97 a while back. It looks like a super nice unit. I had a chance to test pull with a 6.5 locally, and it just didn't even compare to the PSD. I have been hesitant to give up the DRW, but I have been looking for a 4x4 srw, just not much nice stuff in the 10k range that I can find.
The 450 does have A/C, so that puts it back on my radar screen. I'm not in a huge hurry right now.
I missed out a 2003 7.3L F350 King Ranch, every option in the book, DRW 4x4 with 145k yesterday... sold for $13,600

I've been debating this one but a dually's just not right for me. If this one is still available jump on it...

They hold their value great.

That's a beast! But it doesn't match my boat
