Hadn't heard much of that but always good to know.

The 24v cummins is a killer engine, especially for those of us on a budget. I'd be all over this truck if I had the room at the house.

Not yet...I have a few potentials, '99 F350 DRW 4x4 with 73,000 at the auction tomorrow, and a friend has an 00 F250 crew cab Lariat 4x4 with 206k on it... the mileage kind of makes me nervous, but its a new mexico truck, and it's spotless. Is there a certain red one for sale that I need to look at too?

Still lookin...

Missed the 99 350 with 73k on it by 1200 bucks, guess thats why they call it an auction! Looked at the 00 250, but I just don't think I'm comfortable with 206,000 miles on an original ford automatic.

They never called me back on the 450, but I noticed it's still on craigslist. Maybe I'll try again...

There's also an 02 Freightliner FL60, extended cab, dually bed, air brakes / ride, 22.5's, 300 Mercedes with a 6 speed on the side of the road just down the street. I stopped and took a look. Love it, but it would blow my price range by a few grand. Very tempting though.

206,000 on a factory ford auto is better than 206 miles on a dodge automatic!!!

True dat!

Fixxxer - do I have good reason to be worried about the trans? It's never hauled heavy loads (single car open trailer), and the truck has been well taken care of. I'm just worried about hanging 11,000 lbs off the bumper and smoking a tired trans in a hurry. I see the reman units are in the 3-5k range. That's the only downside to the truck, and I think i can pick it up for fair money, just don't want a headache.
