H & S performance is the one to get ahold of , get rid of cat , DPFs , shuts down EGR system , more power , greatly reduce egts , no more regenerations so will stop the internal flooding of your engine oil with diesel fuel , ++++++

6.4 ford 3k or any re-genitive truck. my 6.0 i change at 3 as well. dont care the oil is cheap and the filters are free. oil is way cheaper than metal and i have been seeing many dropped lifter tips on the higher mileage trucks. all had been running about 10k on the oil. by a visual inspection the oil seemed to contain lots of ash. 6.7 ford has intelligent oil life monitoring. it can detect oil growth and how hard you were on it. just let the 6.7 ride until she tells you to change it and all 6.7 trucks are equipped with the intelligent oil life system.

change your oil whenever u want. wal mart has the 5qt containers for 13.99 for the motorcraft. 3 containers and one fl.2016 filter for both the 6.0 and 6.4. also, you will see many drivability issues with a 7.3 once the oil starts to foam and break down.... you can actually see how the oil is doing by the ipr duty cycle while idling.

Wow, interesting info. Am I looking at something on my ODB-II reader Live Info screen to see this IPR cycle? What do I look for? I am curious. My truck gets the romps at times. Is this something you are speaking about? It's got 110K miles on it.

I run 15 qts. dino Rotella 15w40 and 1 qt of Lucas Synthetic and Wix filters on my 2000 7.3L and change every 5K religiously.

yes it would be part of a data stream. I am not sure if your scanner would have that pid data. Working in a dealer all i use is IDS and that is the ford scanner. I am sorry if i am not that familiar with other types. but look for IPR or IPRDC# that would be the PCMs output controlling the pressure of the high pressure pump. I need to look in my notes. I cant say off the top f my head right now as far as what new and old oil gives for a duty cycle on a 7.3 i will get that posted here though.

No prob, everyone else helps me with boat stuff that i have to learn about. Its a awesome circle and glad to do it. I just hope i don't piss anyone off when i say something then have not been back on the site for a few days or when i am slow to return emails or P.M.s As alot of people know we have some larger accounts here at our shop and just 2 of us here. and when 3 ambualnces break down in one day it can be a long day. then i sometimes do not get a chance to get to the computer.

Verbi... Use the short stick method when checking your oil to monitor growth. instead of burying the stick back into the tube put it back in the tube but when you get to the yellow portion of the stick let the bottom base stop against the top of the tube. that will make it about an inch shorter and its consistent. you will then be able to read that damn dipstick. normal operating will be a little under half. or a good thing to do is check right after an oil change using the short stick method. do not let it get past the max of the operating range. she needs changed by then. the 6.4 can be great when understood and taken care of. they have a hard time getting oil to the top. also, do not be surprised to see a good amount of smoke when going through a re-gen. its all good. dont freak out. should be a grayish smoke.

motorcraft oil seems to hold up better than rotella in my truck with regard to foaming. The test for oil foaming is to record ipr duty cycle at idle for a warm engine. then rev the engine in park just below the rev limiter for a few minutes. let the engine return to idle & compare ipr duty cycle. If your oil anti foaming agents are depleted the ipr duty cycle will be elevated & then slowly go down as the foam dissipates. I try to change the oil on my 7.3 every 3000 just to be safe.

I too use Amsoil and change once a year (12-15K miles). I started using Amsoil at 112K miles on my 7.3 with no problems.
