Pretty sure you wrong on this soldier. Either the max tow or the trailer tow package will give you the same results. Both give you the larger radiator, trans cooler, SelectShift, class IV hitch, brake controller (although not listed in the details) and 7 pin harness. Only difference is the mirrors and rear bumper.

Wife's Grocery Getter with FX Appearance Package:
You may be right but if you look on the spec sheets to get 11,300 you need the max trailer package thats what the star means. It might be different between 11 and 12 and maybe XLT or Fx4 are different. Through All my reasearch and what dealer said thats what needs to be ordered. Check out the link below last page. I might be wrong IDK. Some people say its just mirrors and the bumper, I like the mirrors anyways. maybe its Fords gimic, and they wont rate it until you get max tow. Im not sure.

yeah, not sure what other things they would add to increase the towing capacity that wouldn't be listed...especially when the retail price difference is only $550.00.

Update for those that are interested. Got over 10k now for the first 7-8k I was getting hight 15's mpg average now I am getting a 16.2-16.3 mpg average with right around 20 mpg HWY. I recently towed my boat which is right around 10k 650 miles from NY to MI. Terrain was generally flat with some grade I got 11.3 there and 11.8 on the way back with cruise set at 67 and 68mph. Cant be happier my old 6.4 got 10.3 towing and 12.4-13mpg average all the time. Overall towing the truck accelerates the better than the diesel towing, stopping same maybe marginally less. Overall feel is the same maybe a little more sway on the 1/2 ton.

The ecoboost tows like no 1/2 - ever.
It has unbelievable grunt.

Watch it pull up a long hill in 106 degree heat in top gear.

It's pulling my Laveycraft 2750 & trailer like nothing. A little over 7K total being pulled here.
Guys going from LA to Parker "the river" / Havasu know this hill well.

These new engines just amaze me. I have a Eco supercrew/4x4/3.31 axle and I get 20 mixed city/hwy empty. I tow the 25 OL every weekend about 40 miles one way and always get 14-16 mpg depending on wind. My odometer is about to hit 11k miles.

My dad has an Eco supercab/4x4/3.73 max tow and gets about 18-19 city/hwy driving. He has a little over 7k miles. No problems with either trucks to date!

yup no issues with mine besides the under belly blanket getting ripped off by a snow bank or something and my grandpa broke my seat belt.

To bad I dont like the looks of a 4x2 and the fact that I need a 4x4 up here because the MPG would be even better

I remember reading about a guy out west getting a consistent 24 mpg with a 2x4. Thats amazing for a half ton truck with this kind of power.

How often do you change your oil? Im going to do 5000 increments running penzoil full syn. I think the owners manual has something like 7500 or 10000.

the book actually reccomends a blend but I have been running Ford MotorCraft oil full syn since its 15 cents more a qt then blend at Walmart here. Book says 7500. I have 11k and have changed it twice, right now sitting at about 6k think Ill do it soon after the long tow. I wouldnt do it any less then 5k, personally between 5 and 7500 depending on towing and such.
