I skipped over this thread even though I read almost everything in the towing section. I thought for sure it was going to be another one of those "do I *really* need a v8 to tow my boat" threads..

But I went and test drove one this morning and traded my POS range rover in on one.. I was shocked when he told me the towing capacity. I even argued with him until I saw the door sticker. I had zero interest in test driving a v6 truck. He is a familiy friend though so I figured I'd bend a little and go for a drive. I was really surprised at it! couldn't tell it wasn't a v8..

Really happy with the purchase so far.. Will update once I get some towing in..

yeah its impressive I had a chevy 5.3 and it smokes that, I also had a 6.0 and 6.4 Power stroke. I can tell you it tows better than the 6.0 and is on par with the 6.4

Not sure what your pulling Soldier, but I had both the 6.0 and the 6.4 and I think the 6.0 was a far better hauler than the 6.4 and the EB...but considering the other factors (towing is 1/10% of what we use it for) the EB is a solid performer getting low 20s MPG on the highway, 16s MPG around town and 9s MPG when pulling 10,500+ pounds....add to that the plush interior options and trim packages, $25 oil changes and no diesel winter hassles it really is a great option.

i have a 9500lb load, and the 6.4 hands down had more power than the 6.0. My 6.0 was un-modded though either way I thought the 6.4 was only marginally better then the EB given all aspects and the 6.0 was worse then both. But your right i get 20HWY 16 city and just got 11.55mpg towing 1200miles two weeks ago. Not to start a diesel war, lol but you are right considering all things including lower insurance, lower initial investment in the vehicle the cost to value ratio is very very high in this package.

I wasnt a beleiver either till i test rode and scoured the internet for reviews. But what sold me is a buddy was at dealer a guy came in with a F350 dually hauling a bobcat and some other small equipment, which with bocat and trailer your easily talking 7k lbs probably more. Anyways guy came in to drop off his 350 for work, got to BS with dealer, dealer said go ahead take the EB with your trailer. Needless to say the guy didnt leave with the F350.

To be honest with you I would go back to a diesel, but not with 13-14mpg and paying 35-50cents more for per gallon, 100 dollar oil changes, $75 air filters, $60 fuel filters. Ahh no thanks. Plus riding like a brick and the fact that it takes a solid 10-15mins to heat up in the winter up here.

I tell you what I would like to see and Im sure Ford and others will improve on the concept but is an EB type motor that gets 400-425hp with close to 500 torque with a 2-4mpg pick up. Add that to the Ford HD package where you can have a 3000lb payload theres no reason to go diesel ever again. To be honest with you i dont care if it has 4-6-8 cylinders or gas or diesel. The way vehicles, fuel and just generally everything cost these days whatver truck that can haul 10k lbs with the best mpg is getting my business. brand loyalty the love of diesel and what pappy had and pappy before him had is over for me.

I've had all sorts of trucks in the last two years. I had a 6.0 (blew the motor with too much modding), a 6.4, an '11 duramax dually (loved it but too much truck for what I needed), a '10 Silverado 1500LT with the small V8 and now this..

So far this one wins hands down in the comfort department. I originally was shopping for a tahoe but you have to spend like $60k to get even HALF the interior that the Fx4 has. I got a black on black with the tuxedo interior. I will be towing the Skater this weekend and (if my trailer comes in) will be pulling my 292 Formula about an hour and a half drive to the glass shop to have a repair made..

The LCD screen has to be the coolest feature of the truck, along with the a/c'ed seats. How did I live this long in Oklahoma without a/c seats??? I've only been able to put a few miles on it so far but I can't tell its a v6. We have v6 chevy silverado's for our work trucks and they are really loud and boomy. They seem to have plenty of power for pulling itself around but never towed anything with them. This one doesn't sound any different than a regular v8.. Though I wish they would have dressed up the tailpipe a little, looks too plain and 4cyl'ish..

sanppy truck bud bought a 12 just like it 2-3 months ago.

yup, pretty much same as the wife's except for the fx appearance package which does dress up the tail pipe with some chrome

blacks a beootch though, last two trucks of mine were black and still have a black camaro. But nothing like a black vehicle.

Lessons I have learned from the camaro, 2-3 coats of wax per year, and every wash use ICE. That has helped BIG time.
