i tow with a 92 2500 suburban, lets face it most vehicles get around 10 mpg when towing..you can find a late 90's 2500 suburban or a 2000's yukon xl 2500 either one with a big block will tow just about anything,,chit i even moved my friends park model trailer,,was real heavy but muy old sub tub pulled it no problem and it weighed like 18k a ticket waiting to happen, lol....
i get 10 mpg towing as long as you keep your foot out of it and ion the hwy i get 14 mpg as long as you dont go over 66 mph..
BTW i got over 400k on my sub and still have not cracked into the engine..its all oe..

It froze up when I hit the reply button. I was trying to post what I said in the first post. Very strange because I didn't have any trouble with anything else on OSO or any other sites, just this thread. Weird...

I currently tow my 24 outlaw with a chevy trailblazer. The truck is rated to pull 6500 lbs and the boat on trailer should weigh a little less than that, but it feels like it's past the "safety limit" of the blazer. It hasn't been much of an issue so far because the boat is kept ~3 miles from where I launch it. This year I want to travel around with it some and am starting to look for another vehicle to pull it. I'd like to stay around $7500, any ideas on what to look for?

I had a '97 tahoe. Great motor, POS transmission. I pulled a box trailer at about 8k on a few trips and went through two transmissions. The 4L60E of that era was no match for the motor. If you get one, do some mods or get an aftermarket tranny.

Being "overkill" is great, relieves the driver of the "white knuckle" experience.
