Default fixx

i tow with a 92 2500 suburban, lets face it most vehicles get around 10 mpg when towing..you can find a late 90's 2500 suburban or a 2000's yukon xl 2500 either one with a big block will tow just about anything,,chit i even moved my friends park model trailer,,was real heavy but muy old sub tub pulled it no problem and it weighed like 18k a ticket waiting to happen, lol....

i get 10 mpg towing as long as you keep your foot out of it and ion the hwy i get 14 mpg as long as you dont go over 66 mph..

BTW i got over 400k on my sub and still have not cracked into the engine..its all oe..

It froze up when I hit the reply button. I was trying to post what I said in the first post. Very strange because I didn't have any trouble with anything else on OSO or any other sites, just this thread. Weird...

It hasn't been much of an issue so far because the boat is kept ~3 miles from where I launch it. This year I want to travel around with it some and am starting to look for another vehicle to pull it. I'd like to stay around $7500, any ideas on what to look for?
7500 bucks your choices are going to be limited and will probably be in the early 2000's range. But that boat can only weigh 3-4k no need to go anything above a half ton specially if you are going 3 miles, and even if you go farther a standard 1500 or F150 is more than a enough for that boat. Dont let these diesel guys for V10 guys say thats what you need. But I guess if you found one of those in your price rangeand its a strictly a tow vehicle then you might be fine. But a buddy of mine tows his 25ft stingray which is a much larger boat compared to that outlaw and weighs in around 5k he gets 12-13 towing that with his F150. I had a 225 Crownline which weighed around 3500, my chevy 1500 got about the same at 12-14 mpg depending.

Pick up a 97- 2000 tahoe or suburban. The old 5.7 had better low end torque than the 5.3 they are putting in now. In texas they are all over the place, don't spend more than your budget.

That's probably a little overkill for my needs, but just out of curiosity... details?

I had a '97 tahoe. Great motor, POS transmission. I pulled a box trailer at about 8k on a few trips and went through two transmissions. The 4L60E of that era was no match for the motor. If you get one, do some mods or get an aftermarket tranny.

1995 Chevy C3500, 454, auto really a clean truck just a bit of typical GM flake on the hood. Sharp truck and planned to keep it but going a different route (likely newer ram w/cummins).

Being "overkill" is great, relieves the driver of the "white knuckle" experience.
