i own a 2011 ford sd dually with the 6.7 deisel,so im not bashing ford but in the video every ford had a lower axel ratio, does it matter,of course it does.the video is purely advertizing hype.to make a fair comparison all the trucks should be equiped with the same axel ratio,my guess is all 3 would be very close to the same.

I think Ford picked the same gear ratio that Chevy originally chose for the Rumble in the Rockies" video, In that test the Chevy was equipped with 3.73 gears and was a full 2 minutes quicker up to the Eisenhower tunnel than Ford pulling a 19,000 pound trailer, I am sure Chevy picked the gear ratio that made their truck perform the best in their sponsored test. If Ford had used a different gear than the "Rumble in the Rockies" video a giant question mark would be raised. So it looks like the Ford has gained almost 2 minutes on a similar run with similar weight. I doubt the gear change alone ford made gained the 2 minutes. it must be the GT37 turbo breathing better at high altitude and bigger injectors. I am guessing Ford will claim 410 hp and 860 ft lbs TQ when the official number get released. Comparing 2 trucks with similar rear gears is not always an even comparison because the transmissions ratio's in both trucks have different ratios in each gear. Up a 7% grade pulling a 20k trailer wide open a 3.73 may or may not be several mph faster than a 4.30 depending on the transmission ratios in the Allison and the Ford transmission. I have tried higher (numerically) gears in race cars many times and lost mph at the strip and sometimes ET. I think the manufacturers would benefit by bringing a truck with each available gear ratio and see which one is optimum for that type of towing test. It may even help some of us determine what is best gear ratio for the type of towing(hilly or flat terrain) we commonly encounter. Here is the test that started the whole high altitude towing competition

I can tell you this, we work with all the dealers around here and are their shops all the time, everytime we are at ford, there is a truck with the cab lifted off and working on a diesel, seen it at GM but rarely dodge the same...some have had good service from powerstrokes but they have had tons of issues widespread and are on the 4th difference engine in a little over 10 years...

GMC and Chevy had their dark days with the pre-duramax diesel engine. Ford had their dark days with the 6.0 and then the 6.4, To bypass the 7.3 PSD and the 6.7 PSD is as stupid as bypassing a Duramax GM because of the Pre-Duramax 6.5 GM diesels which really stunk. Surely you think that would be stupid, don't you?
