Kind of stuck on that myself, need to buy a tow/commuter and get at least 100k miles on it and love fords, but would consider a goat or bow tie for better used reliable diesels.

I thought the 6.7s were supposed to be a lot better? Haven't really heard of any issues, but agree 100% with 6 and 6.4s unless some fixes are done.

I currently have a 2008 f250 with the 5.4 and just think it's under powered. Boat is a baja 275. I'm looking into getting a new truck and wondering if the diesel is worth the extra over the new 6.2 gas. We have the new 6.7l in our work trucks and we tow are bobats with them all the time and I love the power.
Any input would be great

yup a motor blew up . probly no gasser . or chevys . or dodges blew up . early 6.7 had a few glitches but after that are a dam good mill plain and simple . theres enough out ther now to come to a valid conclution that the 6.7 is bad ass engine .. and i tell you what my 6.4 i enjoyed the hell out of . just a couple mods make that engine darn sound too ..

Priced out two Ford F250s, one w/gas, one with diesel. The additional cost of the diesel and the additional cost of diesel fuel (about 80¢ per gallon here in Washington) made the crossover point (savings due to better mileage of the diesel) somewhere around 250,000 miles.
or the cool factor??
I can't speak for the 6.7, but my 6.4 is a blast....

I did not mean to imply that a diesel would not be a good purchase. Just that if the main reason for purchase was to save money on fuel it would take awhile.
Others made a good point that a gas engine (in a towing environment) might not make it to 250,000 miles. Point well taken. Also the resale on a diesel would be better for sure.
Another plus for the diesel is if you are towing in higher elevations. My 460 F250 lost a lot of power at 6000'. I'm looking for a truck to pull about 9000# max and I live less than 2 miles from
a ramp. Mileage is not an issue as I probably put less than 1000 miles on my truck per year. I just need a truck that will safely pull my boat.

I just sold my 2012 F250 6.7L, 52K trouble free miles in a year . I traded a 04 F350 with a 6.0L diesel in on it, I put 200K on that truck without any major repairs . I towed a 8k center counsel from Chicago to Marco island with the 2012 and average 11.2 mpg loaded and towing at 70 mph plus, on the way home unloaded we average 18-20 mpg. To answer your question if money is no object and you don't mind the maintenance and fuel costs associated with a diesel I would recommend going that route. If your current BAJA is a boat that you will own for the life of your truck I would buy an F150 with the eco boost. Most 3/4 ton gassers have been turds in my experience!

Thanks for everyone's input. It has to be at least a 3/4 ton because I plow with it. I think diesel it is because we want to move up in boat size with in the next 4 years. I don't want to waste the money on a gas job just to have to buy another one in a couple years
