Myco winch stand
#11
Just bought a trailer from Loadmaster this year. Mine is high also, and during the setup they made the point to make sure the winch should be even if not a bit higher then the bow eye.
My guess is the winch could be mounted lower and then use a roller and guide to bring the strap up higher

1) So there is no chance the boat will ever hit it.
2) So you might not have to get your feet wet when using it.
3) So you can stand on solid ground (not the trailer) when using it.
And I also suggest that the winch be high. Why? The height of the winch will help to lift the bow of the boat when needed pending the angle of the ramp/depth of the trailer.
The only accommodation you may need to make, is the winch is not really doing anything to keep the boat ON the trailer or from moving forward with this configuration. You will need sufficient ratchet straps either vertical or aimed slightly rearward to keep the boat planted on the bow stand and keep it from sliding forward in a panic stop or worse.

Thank you all for the feedback!.......It's interesting to note the boat was never floated off the trailer, it was always strap lifted and placed in the water,..the rear bunks (port & stb.) are cut out to receive a strap through them.
I was told by Flagship marine the trailer was never submerged in water always lifted!.....Also, I have the bill of sale from Myco states custom built to match the Mistress. may explain why the resting point of that V bunk
under the front hull is high (it is adjustable and it's at it's highest point) but can't explain why there are no mid-range bunks......I'm going to send a few pics to Myco and get there take.
There are rollers on every cross member along the keel.....so dropping the V bunk down a few notches into a new set of front bunks is needed.....then I can see a new adjustable 2 piece bow stand work well.
I'll post some pics of the rear bunk cutouts and that front V bunk as well...........Thanks, Scippy

Not sure I've ever seen a MYCO V-block like the one on your winch stand before. I'm betting someone did that after it left the factory. Would suggest you get a new lower V block like Sydways suggested, or similar from MYCO, and then move the winch stand as far forward as possible.
Very sharp boat/trailer btw.

Here's a picture of that adjustable front V bunk and the square cutouts to slip a strap through for lifting in the rear bunks.
Also, where would be the best place to add the 2 new bunks to support the front of the boat?....I'm guessing, but not sure
along the front strakes where the V bunk is now?............starting from that point to the rear and for how many feet?

That is old school Myco right there. I have one I am fixing right now. Removing the Vee support at the bottom, adding a cross member and putting a 6' bunk in its place. I would try to get the bow down if you can without screwing up your rear bunks and the way the boat sits in the chine.
Then separate your winch stand and bow stop posts. Clean old trailer!

I called myco once with a vin# off a 1994 trailer. They were able to tell me everything about it from the vin. What it was made for, who it sold to new, build material etc.

looking at where the boat is at fenders and location of the eye, not much you can do without a different trailer, but you can have someone fabricate a step up platform to stand on that would help getting to the winch

It looks like the trailer crossbeams dont have much of a V in them. That explains why the boat sits on the trailer so high. Not much you can do about that. Agree with everyone about ditching the front V support and installing bunks. As far as the winch stand height goes, your pretty much stick there. Need to have the winch drum higher than the eye. What about installing an electric winch? I have a powerwinch RC30 on both of my trailers for my 24' boats and they work great. One trailer is a roller trailer with the Formula on it. the other trailer is a bunk with the Sea Ray on it. I cant put the Sea Ray trailer in too far otherwise the boat does not come up on the trailer far enough. Longer trailers are easier to load the boat on.

Here's another angle of boat on trailer..........I agree to the above comments, "There's not enough V depth in the cross members to allow the boat to "sit in" the trailer".
It's obvious to me now why she has to have a larger winch stand.................I can't see how this can be remedied ????......Yes to step up platform form...not much else?
