New Truck Order
#11
Brian,
I definitely read your thread - for a couple reasons the Dodge is my least viable option (company truck I'm ordering, so I'll spare you the details). I'm leaning towards either the Ford or the 3500 Denali. For some reason though the Ford seems much more "truck" to me. More capacity (in case a Tiger comes my way), and more bells and whistles for the money. My wife also has a new Denali so something about having a different interior was appealing, though I like the looks of the 3500 Denali a LOT. I did just go look at a longhorn mega cab - I like that you can store and recline the rear seats....

Buddy has a 18 Ford 2500 and has been in the shop 2 twice before 15K, once was summer time and the AC just stopped working, another the 4 wheel didn't lock in. No biggy, just annoying. I like the looks of the Ford
Wonder if they have the safety shut down like they did in 2008. If sensor goes out in the exhaust pipe, the computer thinks its over heating and reduces almost all power until truck comes to a stop. Then it shuts the motor down and you cannot restart until the sensor is replace.

...if it was down to GM or Ford; for me, I’d have gone with Ford.
1) I think your money goes further with the Ford.
$999 gets you panoramic roof on Ford
$999 gets you single panel moonroof on Denali.
When I was head to head shopping, Ford had push-button start and GM did not on either high end offering. There are several ‘line items’ like this between those too.
Now, I love the keyless start on my Ram. But what did I do within 60 days of ownership? I lost one of the $175 fobs.

2) Ford’s Forscan to play with the truck is awesome. Albeit I think their GUI is terrible, it offers more options and electronic goodies.
GM has things extremely locked down, not to mention the full encryption of the drivetrain so you can’t delete or tune if you wanted to. I did find out yesterday that Gale Banks was directly involved with the development of the L5P though which is awesome. I’m told there is a YouTube video about such.
I have always been a GM guy, but the Chevy & Denali while first and high on my list, was eventually the first crossed off. I too am uber surprised to have an FCA Ram in my toy box, but even Steve Schuble told me in KW last week, “I see you finally bought the right truck!” (He always had Dodge/Rams, and usually silver).

I like the Ford passconnect for 5 years so I can start unlock, etc from my phone. That's big because my office window is out of sight line from where I park. I know GMC has similar because my wife has has it but I think pays for it. I also didn't like on the GMC that there weren't vents in the back for air-conditioning. It's a small thing but when my kids jump in after soccer and are dying from the heat it's nice to have AC blowing right on them - that's a 6 day a week issue for me.....
Not to worried about tuning or warranty because I'll be forced to get a new one at 36 months....

I fricking hate the panoramic roof on the Furd. Mine creaks, pops, and moans like old Ho. No good fix for this known problem so I live with a 62K truck sounding like a $1,500 POS. Or I have to run around with the roof open or popped up in the back and then it is as quiet as a church mouse.

Friend has identical truck a year newer and it doesn't make a sound. Go figure. But I'm not about to let them rip the headliner out to put a new frame in. I just turn the radio up louder. Lol!
