I’d steer clear of the MB 300/330 and Cat C7 powered sport chassis trucks. Have seen plenty of those with issues when they crest 100k miles. Cummins seems to not have to many issues.

On the international side, they are a wiring cluster phuck. Lots of issues with connections and wires breaking in harnesses.

My pick would be a freightliner with a Cummins/Allison drivetrain

That helps..

M2 freightliners, but the similar ones we have at work, are horrible fit and finish wise. Lots of cheap plastic, things fall apart and very noisy inside.
thoughts?

Put a video player with movies and games in the back and the kids will calm down.

The owner is JW Davis, or "jwstoys" here on OSO. He has some Medium Duty trucks listed in the OSO Classifieds, and more on his site above. He's a good friend, and great seller with a stellar reputation.

The main thing you have to take note of with these quasi-commercial trucks is the road noise, both wind and drivetrain. I've driven a few Freightliners, and I like my Ram 3500 better for trips on the highway. The wind noise, buffeting, etc on the bigger trucks definitely wears on you. Just taking one for a 30 minute trip, didn't notice it. But I took one of JW's Freighliners to a Charity Event last year; couple hours on the highway, and I couldn't really have a good conversation with my buddy in the passenger seat sans raised voice.

I have a deposit on my truck and test drove a 2004 Sport chassis. Those things are huge and noisy, the ride is soft but it`s just too much of a beast and not comfortable sitting in a captains chair above the steering wheel.
Great room in the back thou .
A red midnight edition mega cab is in my future.

Missed out on this one by a day
