The price of used Fountains hasn't suffered. I doubt the price of used Velocity's will suffer either.

Maybe Nordic, Shockwave and Cig ? Does anyone know ?
Average salary in the us is 25k
average total household income 55k
more than 60% of all legal working Americans make less than 60k a year..
Typical new V hull performance boat start at $100k for singles $175k for duals at the small/low end.. Boat companies dont make a whole lot on the bottom end models and performance boats have a limited market to begin with.

Only market for new offshore performance boats are the big ballers which is why most new builds are in the 40-50ft range and 500k and up..Performance Boat companies build where the demand is,,they are just building fewer numbers but at a higher price.

It's also a matter of customer service too. From what I've heard from other folks and dealt with first hand, there was none with the new ownership group.

I just spent over $30k on mine to get it back perfect and Velocity had the opportunity to do the work. (I actually brought the boat to he factory after my incident). However, after stories I heard of quality control problems along with lack of customer service I decided to go elsewhere. They made no effort to earn my business and didn't even question when I came to pick the boat up.

It's a real shame to see them go. There's a lot of history in the brand as a whole.

yes but wakeboard boats band new are selling in records about 10,000 new boats per year now and there is only about 10 builders for them. Mastercraft and Malibu sell about 4 to 5 K new boats combine per year at pricing of 80 k to 150 k that are all single engine apps - one app only boat. meaning do not go out in the middle of an ocean or rough water boating nor are speed demons 50 mph in a wakeboat is fast by their standards.

so the income theory does not hold water - hell pontoon boats are selling for 80 to 100 k now and pontoon boats are a waiting list of 2 to 3 months to get a new one as they are that busy.

hell Bass pro shop is selling 70 k pontoon boats now and they are entry level boat sellers and quality of their stuff is junk Tahoe, tracker, nitro boats - junk built. hell Ranger 2 seater bass boats are 80 k and the Joe bob bass man is eating them up to.

I may be wrong but the difference could come down to financing. I assume it would be MUCH easier to walk in to your local bank and finance a Mastercraft vs an "unknown" performance boat.

Very sad indeed. Steve Stepp and Kenny H were first class. New owners were not user friendly.

I'm sure there would be alot of litigation for Steve to get back the Velocity name..He had to fight Regal years ago for the rights to the name. He may be better off bringing back the Thoroughbred name..
