I thought I had it bad with 3/4" out of alignment, but "1 inch" out.....WOW, blind monkeys would be an understatement !!!!!!
I do feel your pain though. I too opened up the riser stud holes to allow me to cheat a little more at the manifold in lieu of cutting the transom holes anymore than nesserary. It all worked out fine in the end.
Thanks for the heads up on the "SHINEY" Flappers, I'll have to check those beauties out.

Cpperformance has some nice looking stainless flappers...

....And yes.. apparently, Velocity DID employ blind monkeys to cut their exhaust holes.....
When I went from the 496 Mag to a tall deck raised exhaust port big block, I had wedges made to raise my tails which is to be expected...
However, I also had to slot the mounting holes in the port side riser as THAT tip was outboard over an inch !
The starboard side lined up fine. Didn't notice with the stock exhaust because of the ling hoses.. now, looking at the transom it's noticeable....

Yep..............$$$$$$$$$$$$$$......
, I noticed they were "REAL" proud of those babies.............. Looks like I'll have to put my creative thinking cap on again and see what I can fab up. Might be worth a trip down to the local Kenworth parts store to see if they may have something to fit the need.......

Just think'n on an alternate Stainless Exhaust Flapper:
$75.00 ea. Standard 304 Stainless "Rain Cap", for 4" OD pipe/tube:

Would obviously need to cut down the counter weight on the flap door to give it a cleaner look and free up action and add some rubber somewhere to kill the metal to metal noise:

Thought's, comments.....................
