Thanks for your input.
The tin can prefilter "WAS/IS" called out for my current motor. That's why I've replaced it with the Aeromotive unit. I agree that the plumbing is not the most free flowing, but it'll do for now as I too had thoughts about something a little more free flowing before the boost pump but space limitations only allow me to go upwards and I didn't want to do that. May opt to eliminate the 3/8" hose and go full 1/2" ID hose but it still ends up being restricted due to the boost pump fitting being 3/8 hose. From what I saw in the old tin can filter, I don't want any of that getting into the boost pump. It looked like the shavings from when they hole sawed the tank at the factory. Motor will not see any power increases as I'm past that point in my life and have decided to slow it down a bit and enjoy the comfort aspect of boating. So I'm coming from a 104 MPH Tunnel to a 70 MPH Vee......yeah, I'm like'n the comfort level allot......LOL !!!! |
Glad to see you're enjoying this boat! I'm the previous owner of it.
These are some photos I managed to find a long time ago, before I owned it. The first thing I did when I got the boat home was get the flames off of it! http://i.imgur.com/7eMkqyq.jpg http://i.imgur.com/EAJe3kO.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Rb0QHwx.jpg |
What I did while owning it:
removed the windshield tabs stereo GPS speedo extra batteries and the charger bblades prop brand new tires and disc brakes on the trailer right before i put it up for sale. |

Jarad,
I can blame you one bit for the flame removal, had the flames still been on the boat, I wouldn't have bothered to look at it let alone bought it, that was a dumb idea to put those on right along with the out of place looking way to tall windshield. I'm going to assume from the pics the boat may have come from out west ? Obviously you can see I've made some changes as well, as for one, I didn't like the stereo in the cuddy so it got moved, added 2 subs and mono block amp, removed the existing cabin LED's and replaced with more and brighter lighting, dual engine hatch actuators, hydraulic steering, 3 new Optima batteries, Blue Sea ACR charging system with all new battery cables, resealed the drive, changed to new exhaust tips, glassed in new braces in the engine hatch . Still thinking of adding a low profile windscreen, just can't get past the bend me over price..... There was allot of corrosion on the drive, did you keep it in the water allot ? |
The flames must have been an 03 thing as mine has them and I mistakenly thought they were vinyl when I bought it. I would love them gone, how did you remove them and did they leave shadows?
Thanks, Rick |
It's gonna take an unreal amount of wet sanding to get them off. And "YES" there will be shadows, but only you would know that as they're almost invisable to anyone else. I would have paid someone to remove them as it's gotta be a killer in labor.

I ended up making my own scrapers out of some bare silicon PCB boards. the plastic scrapers got dull too quick.
