Try running bigger power and faster speeds in non-flat water . Maybe than you will understand where I'm coming from . I to have known Steve for a long time , but I only have experence in his boats with large power . I respect your opinion on stock mec's w/bravos , I've never had one of those . An overpowered boat dosen't need to use the pad for speed like an underpowered one does . I can tell you for a boat to handle right when going very fast , flat is where it's at .

Started doing the Maryland runs up here in 91 or 92 in a 30' w/750's and #3's . She would cruise at 90-95 and top at 110 . All the big boats would speed up when things got rough hoping to have an advantage . It didn't help , we were able to run up front in that boat at most of the events I attended for more than 10 years. If you came up for any of them you may remember us . Boat spent a lot of time in the air . Someone asked Steve about my aggressive driving and he said with a smile , that's how it should be done . The 41' I picked up was the old BFI race boat w/staggard 900's , that handled rough water with ease . Sadly it was stolen a little over a year ago . We are both fans of the brand , and I know you go way back with Steve . My point is IMO running on the pad helps in flat conditions but not as much in the sloppy stuff . I mean no disrespect , just a difference of opinion based on my experences that started with my 100mph 33' turbo Fountain in the 80's.

It was a good day for going fast. The day before the water was very sloppy and we went 94 MPH and it was like riding a bull.

My 41' liked the slop , helped to loosen up the boat . It would give me a couple of extra mph .

Was your 30 white and brown with a big eng. hatch. We ran down to the tiki bar on Salomans island with the owner of the Velocity Dealership up there Ken. Back in 2002-3 I think.

The CGS holds the record for the fastest Velocity that I know of , at aprox 130mph with 1300's back when it was racing . My 30' started off blue and white , then was later done in all white . I remember being at the Solomans run . I think I had my boat there with me on that one . The Bay got a little rough on the way down if I remember right .
