You can buy a 100% warranted drive by Merc without a serial number, I know because I bought one. Bought a 1.81 B3 XR in 2015 from another marine business which was out of state and shipped.. He had the upper but had to order the lower. Since this was pieced together there was no serial number.

After installing the drive the inner shaft seal started to leak. Took it to a nearby dealer and they contacted the seller, which provided sales receipt, and Merc covered the repair. Just took a little longer.

Only bad thing is after testing, found out 1.81 would not work and used my old 2.0 drive on the XR upper

Called Merc and was told if there is no serial number they will not warrant, not that Merc stands behind there warranty like they use to.
Arent you counterdicting yourself now about the need for for serial numbers?

Yes and No, I did not buy the XR B3 from Mike for that reason, but did buy it from another Dealer out of state. So when I posted that comment on my other thread it was before I bought the drive

Just like when I bought the 2 HP transom assemblies, one with and one without the trim sender. The first came in great and well packaged. I sold the first to another OSO member because I wanted the trim sender. The second came in that was not well packaged and the Anode was busted. I was sent a replacement by Mike that was cut off another drive, and I had to splice the wires back together.

All said and done, the digital trim I wanted still does not work (so far as the gauge) even with a analog to digital converter

I'd buy from you again Mike, and don't believe you deserve all the low comments. Didn't like my small issue and it would not stop me from checking with you next time.

Merc warranty plain and simple. and No third parties warranties will be covered. Only if its sold thru the OEM Merc dealer networks that applied warranties will be issued. And the country that it is sold in. Again OEM dealer - OEM merc does not sell retail to an open market period. Please read the many questions and about the part of the serial numbers for warranty covered. It is all listed in the OEM Merc info below.

We file and process warranty claims on a weekly basis with Mercury Marine and Mercury Racing with no problem whatsoever to keep our very positive reputation in the marine industry and the system works very well.

great news but MERC has never heard of CME period and a phone number can prove all that. So what is your answer now ?

A customer that bought stuff off you from your FB ads that I know needs a shipping address for warranty claims. Where can he send the stuff to ? Surely not the condo address ?
