I am there a lot. I think there is a wide mix of people there, but most of the people I run into there who have bad attitudes are not Boat Owners, but in fact are guests of a Boat Owner or not even associated with a Boat and are there strictly for the party.
The great thing about Havasu is that on any given weekend, you can find a large number of people who truly want to run thier boats fast and see what they can do. I agree, a lot of newbies, but also a lot of former Racers and long time HP Bpaters who know exactly what they are doing and yuo can run side by side with them the entire lenght of the lake and have a ball.
I don't think it is a fair characterization to condem the entire lake or community, overall, Havasu is a very unique environment for performance boating enthusiasts.
A well kept secret is the best boating at Havasu is in the Winter, you can run wide open for 30 miles and never hit more than 1 foot chop

I don't condem the whole lake, just the sand bar and the channel. They are usually mandatory stops but don't spend much time there. I prefer to run down to Havasu springs where there is less traffic.
BTW, who wants to run for 30 miles and never hit more than a 1 foot chop!?!
I'm always looking for bigger water!

[QUOTE=Dude! Sweet!;2258539]There's always the ocean! Those guys don't want to get their fancy trailers messed up by dunking them in the salt...

I'm an hour and a half from Havasu but five hours from the ocean.
I've never had a bad time or any trouble with anyone running in the ocean. Even at the ramps it's always an easy going feeling with no crowds or tension. And when my steel trailer rusts away I'll buy an aluminum one!

As for the chop- the winter can have some pretty severe winds that will kick up 3-4 chop on the lake, still nothing like a rough ocean day but the after boating clean up is easier !!!
We are on the water about every other weekend and run into all types. Usually you can tell what you surrounding company is about and if it's a bad vibe we move on...
BTW- I always use a stern anchor as well

I wasn't condeming the entire lake or whole community at all. It just seems that there are alot more AZZ-holes that are boating these days. I agree, most of them are probably not boat owners. There is alot more attitude out there lately from what I've seen.
While I agree that it makes good common sense to avoid these people, sometimes they cross your path when you don't expect it and they start trouble. There is still way too much drinking going on there-- especially people driving their boats.
I see alot more people fighting/arguing rather than helping each other out when there's a situation. Pretty sad.....

I too do most of my boating in Havasu and do notice the problem. It is a west coast thing . People here (Los Angeles) and at the lake just have a shi**y attitude-very selfish and impatient. Not every one, but a lot. I went to Minnesota on the St. Croix at Hastings(?) a couple of years ago and could not believe how nice and courteous people were. I have to say for the first day I was kind of suspiciouse of it.-Mike

Thats' funny. My folks moved to carefree, AZ about 10 years ago. I went to visit them (from So Cal) and while there, went into a grocery store. While walking down an isle, a stock boy asked if I needed help finding anything. I said no and moved on. Next isle, a girl asked if I needed help. This happened a couple more times and freaked me out because they were so freindly and helpful. "What's wrong with these people" i thought! Then I realized that they were just normal people providing good customer service which is almost non-exsistant in So cal.
