You guy's have got to stop influencing Tbikini :( You ever been body slammed by your spouse so she can post  If not you should give it a try
By the way Jassman, might want to watch the red headed step child stuff  Red heads do not like to be made fun of and Tbikini is one  Rock on :D |
where is one of those web cams when you need one h20. A little super fly snooka, I like it. :D
tbikini, red head huh, I think you must go with white and blue latex coverings, you know stars stripes etc... :D :D I am so patriotic........ [ 12-11-2001: Message edited by: thunderdan ] |
H20...what are you waiting on? Are you so dam anal that this whole thing comes down to some cushion or what? If you like certain things about the Formula, but they don't offer all the good stuff, and Thunder is a custom manufacturer, can't you get the BEST of both worlds with Active Thunder?
|
H20 ,
I also own a 37 AVH Active Thunder and could not be happier with it.. Last winter my wife decieded she wanted to start sleeping out on a boat then she wanted AC and a generator and a big bed so we would be comfortable.. At this point I owned three SKATERS , so I am very picky when it goes to boats... I always have to have the best and luckily we are at a place in our lifes where we could afford to buy the best regardless of price.. So I did alot of shopping and talking to people and ended up with a 37 AVH with all the above options plus some. It was the best deciesion I could have made . The boat handles better than anything in its class or 5 foot longer and is put together well. I use this boat alot more than any of my others .. Also the "after sale" service from both Pat and Steve is great .. Which is very important , alot of companies will talk about it but few will deliver..... I used my boat alot this past summer and entered probabaly 10 poker runs with it , you would not beleive the performance and handling of this boat .. It is truly the Skater of Vee bottoms....... If you have any questions or concerns feel free to email me :: [email protected] I have nothing to do with the company , I am just happy they make such a nice boat and they stand behind their boats.... Mark H. |
ya know screamin, I have that same conversation with myself every night.
|
Mark,
I know you totally decked your boat out with the generator etc. and I think you also have the 500 efi's. What top speeds are you getting out of it. I know Steve said you loaded it to the gills and I have seen pictures of it and it looked sweet. Thanks |
come on Kevin, do not be so damn hard on yourself. It is a big decesion that I found only gets harder and more confusing the longer you think about it. Remember, I went through the same thing, looking at the same boats so did Jassman. :)
|
H20, I am not currently in the market for a new boat, but have done a great deal of research on all of the boats you've looked at. I have also owned several Formula's prior to my current boat and have been in one of the new 382 FasTech F2 raceboats. If you would like to talk about the boats in question, I would be happy to discuss any aspect of either machine. I can be reached tomorrow at 212-828-6504. Pat values my input from time-to-time and I have brainstomred some ideas with JASSMAN and Thunderdan.
In any event, I know you'll make the right decision for you and your family...or you'll decided you didn't buy the right thing the first time and get it right down the road. P.S. The glue is calles PLEXUS and there is nothing inherently wrong with using PLEXUS. Hustler bonds its cockpits to the stringers with PLEXUS and several boat companies use PLEXUS in addition to binding the hull and deck completely with fiberglass. The issue is that some companies only use PLEXUS to bind the hull and deck which, while the bond is strong at the molecular level, flexing is more prevalent at the hull/deck joint than in boats that are fiberglassed together. Man are you smart Paul. I knew I liked you for a reason other than the amo to bust steve's balls. ;) :p :D
Does formula bond their hulls in addition to the plexus? [ 12-11-2001: Message edited by: thunderdan ] |
THanks for clearing that up Miller
H20 and Tbikini my wife is a red head when we go over to New orleans, that wig and latex make a great disguise. And yes, Dan, how did you guess, Im on #5. :p |
I was told (though I didn't actually look to see if this is true) that Formula does bond the hulls and decks with fiberglass 360 degrees around the perimeter on its raceboats in addition to using PLEXUS. I have no information about what they do on the pleasureboats.

When exactly is this New Orleans trip ?
|
h20,
I think it is somewhere around the end of Feb. Jassman was looking into it and letting us know. Are ya interested? Did you check out the pic of the 37 on the website under latest new? Miller, Thanks for the info. You are a wealth of info. ;) Jassman, Just a lucky quess on the crowns... :D :D [ 12-11-2001: Message edited by: thunderdan ] |
My buddy Kirk is trying to get that 5 bedroom 3 bath 2nd floor place reserved, we are having some problems in contacting the owners, we dont know if they are on vacation,or what, they also do alot of boating, and guess what kind of boat they own :p
|
JJ,
looks like we may have to road trip to New Orleans to see if we can track em down. :D :D |
Oh I hear you on that one, we have left numerous messages on their machine over the last 2 weeks, hope everything is ok, if not he is trying for another place. It was a real comedy last year, the stuff someone will do for beads, Sandy and I wont even do s ome of the stuff, if that tells you anything, I will keep you guys posted :)

When I was a field rep for Cat (I still work for Cat, just not as a filed rep) I called on Louisiana Machinery. They are located just outside New Orleans in Reserve. I have been to New Orleans tooooooooooooooooo many times :D :D :D I am actually going to be there the second week of January for a sales meeting and convention (world of concrete) I thought you might be there the same time. It would be great to meet ya'll in person.
Think Thunder Run :D Hey Jassman, I also used to call on Puckett Machinery. They are the Cat dealer in your rea. I've spent my fair share of time in Mississippi as well. (did I spell that right, soooo many s's,i's and p's) :D Tbikini was right I haved too many beers, but I think jassman is way ahead of me  |
DAN, (im trying to catch you, you little post whore) :p
|
h20,
Good luck on your decesion. I am hear if you want to ask me any questions. I hope you know we are just funnin with ya. You seem to have a pretty goos sense of humor which is why I bust em. Formula vs Thunder, interesting. Both good boats, you just need to line em up side by side, put a list together of pro's and con's for each. Give certian things more weight by their importance and then make your choice. I am not trying to push you but i would deceide soon because i know you want to be boating in the spring. GOOD LUCK |
My new nickname, thunder whore, what do you think??? :D :D
|
Thunderdan ,
Even with my boat loaded with all the options it will still run 86 MPH on freshwater and 88 on saltwater.( GPS speeds ) Its common for me to have over 1/2 tanks of fuel, all the stuff for a weekend stay out on the boat and my wife and I aboard and still hit at least 84 on the GPS.. This is with the 500 EFIs ( STOCK )... I can't tell you how many people think I modified these motors while we are in poker runs, due to the performance of the boat. I have even had people crawling around in the engine compartment looking around. After I spanked the (so called) 95 MPH 38' Cig in three footers.. So far top speed has been 88.2 ( GPS ) and thats the same way it left the factory .. Life is good....... |
They will make the right desicion Dan, and you guys have my numbers so when you are in the area call, we go to NO once a month with the same 8 people we go out with every friday knight, its a fun group ages 30-42 two more people would be better, call tomorrow if I can help :)
|
Mark,
I may have to come down to visit this summer, maybe learn a few tricks or two off of you. Those are some impressive speeds. What poker runs do you usually do? Do you any northern more runs? |
good night one and all.... :)
|
SKATER, his new name is now THUNDER WHORE, that is awesome on the speed 88.2 very impressive
Good Knight Ya"LL :D |
Man you guys. I never have a chance to talk up AT anymore. For the longest time I was the lone gunman standing against all the cookie cutter builders and the wannabe customs. For a while there I felt so all alone in my quest to let the world know of the special qualities of being an AT owner; of which I've been for over 3 years now. I'm so very glad to have some compadres (sp) in the never ending battle to continue the education of the boating world. I don't hardly ever have to say anything anymore. Its been a long battle so now I can sit back and rest and let the new members of the AT family carry on the fight. Go forth my brothers and do battle well. :D ;) :D
How was that Pat. Pretty good eh? :) :D (Jeez I crack myself up) Uh oh...Tracy was just reading over my sholder and said "Back away from the computer there Gladiator, and go take out the garbage" Gotta go boys....Carry on Todd (the original OSO AT Warrior) LMAO :D |
Todd, I think the garbage can wait, that was Traceys way of telling you its time to let Russell the Wonder Muscle come out and play, that was my last post, good knight. :p
|
Skater that's some impressive speed considering 1/2 load of fuel is 100 gallons and you have a deisel generator (right? I thought Pat said that) which I'd bet adds considerably to the overall boat weight. Just goes to show that the AT is an efficient running surface.
|
Thunderdan : We would love to have you down to visit in Virginia.. We hit every poker run we can , but have to work around my offshore racing schedule...Runs such as Smith Mt. Lake , Potomac river , Richmond Powerboat Assoc. , Viginia Beach poker run , etc. etc.
Miller: Thats correct the gererator is a diesel one , I don't know what it weighs but its kind of small and compact. One thing it doesn't use much fuel. The tank holds 9 gallons and I have run it two nights in a row, I am talking from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM and it would use less than 1/2 tank.... Plus when its real hot the cabins a hit when we are stopped , they will have the AC and Genne cranking...... Mark |
Plexus? We tried it in one boat: A center console 31'. 6 months later, after it started to come apart, we pulled all the combing panels and glassed it 360 degrees they way it should have been from the start.
Admittedly it was being used for charters and was probably beat on but not as much as our offshore stuff. Give me a 12" biax bond 360 degrees any day of the week. |
Geez didn't anybody liek how eloquently i expressed my self a few posts ago. i'm back to feeling all alone again. :(
|
Todd, you are a true gentleman, I am glad things have turned around for you (good job tracey) and I also feel lonely because Thunder whore(Dan) is always taking the stage, we cant get a word in anymore :p
|
Jeff, i have just one word for you,BITE ME, woops to words. :p :D :D
|
Bite me, how can I bite something that isnt there, sounds like a personal problem to me.
I was just watching speedvision, some guy in a 30 Advantage has got my name, I thought I had an original. Ill have to find a new name, mabe Thunder Enlightning :p |
Hey Dan, H20 or TBIKINI never called me today like they promised. I stayed around the house the whole day sitting by the phone counting hour after hour of sheer disappointment when they were not on the recieving end. :( They must not care for us as much any more, I feel violated, I gave them best, all of me, heart and sole, my undivided attention night and day,to be only shunned upon, I saw them posting on the FORMULA SITE :p I wonder why no one has responded yet, Im sure there are some educated Formula owners :D
|
Hey Jassman, Thunder Enlightening is still in the works :D (what a great name). Sorry we violated you (was this your first time  ).
Speaking of being violated, what is ThunderDan doin seting up a Thunder run in the spring before other peoples boats are done :( Or even ordered  Whats up with that  |
No, it was my second time, Formula was my first time, when I went to go pick up my boat they put me on the elevator and tried to hide the difference in the 2year 2.9 financing this last summer. Cant fool an old finance man. They than became extinct off my 6 boat list, which finally got down to A.T., and if you would quit jerkin around you would be as happy as we are, just put in a little faith, we all have been there before you, and have done our homework, its better not to analize it to death, you will miss out on our Thunder run,(you can still bring your other less built and slower boat from another manufacturer) and wish you wouldnt have made that mistake. Call me compare notes, even prices if you want, but dont wait, I know Pat is raising prices because Im trying to get my buddys Sonic traded in, and this new 37 is way to hot, call me :D
|
H20 go to www.activethunderboats.com hit latest news and see the pictures of Dans boat, no other manufacturer shows how a boat is built and no one is more proud of the final product other than Pat, there is a whole lot of love(passion) of maticulas detail, check out the stringers, the big bolts in the seat, the faded dash, the new cabin liner, do yourself a favor, make your desicion, I just hope your not too late.
