Its flat out Nasty today.Dont get me wrong,i have a buddy with a million dollar Outerlimits(he paid that two years ago ,its now worth in the fours)the boat is a work of art (50000.00 paint job ect ) light, fast as hell in 2-4 footers BUT in the heavy stuff ,for a prolonged amount of time, dollar for dollar the traditional v bottom(Apache,Sutphen) still can hold its own.

I was agreeing with you until you went to the old trap that so many people on this board fall into. "any" cigarette? I doubt a 46 rough rider with staggered 1075's is going to spend much time worrying about any 36 apache in really rough water. I am sure your apache is nice but it's still 36 feet long. Nothing you can ever do about that. I have a freind with a top gun you will struggle to get by. Probably best to say you can run by a lot of them, not all of them. NK

Obviously, you've never run an Active Thunder in rough water. The boats are rock solid, fly level, and land nicely. The throttle response on top with stock power pulls strong. I've seen both the 36AT straight bottom and 37AT Step bottom pull away from many boats during Poker runs to the Keys (in really snotty water) and having worked for the A/T factory, I've spent my share of time running the boats. I also grew up in Miami during the "days" of Ben Kramer and Ft Apache and can appreciate the heritage and toughness built into every Apache. I've always had and still dream about owning a bad ass Apache one day...both boats are great in their own way. The old school/new school controversy will always exist. The fact is, Big Al's thread is his opinion (although he is correct that the A/T does run well) and gives everyone something to talk about. The Apache threads have always been controversial, so why stop now!!

Now a fair comparison. Never been in a 37 at so I can't comment. NK
