There could be some very high pressure going through those strainers. Do you think you could put some kind of pressure reducer.

I am getting water leaks out of the sand strainers. They are as tight as they can possibly be tightened. It leaks where the glass bowl contacts the metal body and there is an o-ring there.

There are dedicated water pick ups on the transom running to the sand strainers and then to the intercoolers under the Whipples.

I do not have any pressure gauges on them but there is a good steady water flow while onplane.

Could the pressure be exceeding what the strainers can handle?
Doc it looks like your pick ups are 1 inch and gets necked down to 5/8 s hose try shortenig the angle of pickup, closer to the bottom I would say if your picks hang more than 1/4 inch below thats enough. before you cut pickup take the screen out of sand strainer to releive pressure just to see If glass still leaks .I think the pickup need restricked some how .get valve put it before strainer close 1/2 way .

Ahhhh. $600 first please.
Actually, I built my own pressure relief valves about 2 years ago. I found it was cheaper to buy the off the shelf ones than building my own.
They are pretty cool though. I'll see what I can dig up for specs on them.
