Matt – Curious when I had State Farm (my insurance company) quote me on an ’08 Malibu 23 LSV my insurance went up. I am at $30.50/month now for your old boat and it went up to around $40. Not a big deal but I tried to explain that going to a tow boat/wake board boat from where I sit was like going from a Mustang to a Subaru Outback and that it doesn’t make sense. She asked for everything you listed below with the exception of hull type (do you guys get this from the make?). The other big thing that was asked was drive type? Are there other factors in knowing what boats are designed for? I.E. water sports and they may cause liabilities?

Again, sorry for the high jack. :ernaehrung004:

Without knowing how she underwrote your policy on your 245, it is hard to say. Normally with the companies I have written through, performance hulls are the most expensive to insure but one of the largest factors in the cost of insurance is the hull coverage itself. In other words, if the wake boat had a higher hull value, then it could in fact outweigh the hull design factor and cost you more to insure.

I will say though that we have seen an increase in liability related claims with tow boats due to an increase in popularity amongst younger boaters and an increase in injuries. I could not believe the number of tow boats on the water here last summer and how many of those boats were being operated by youthful boaters.

The new motors are in the boat and should have been ran on the hose Friday. I'm heading to the lake Friday, it's supposed to be 63, to take it for a test run with Scott from CPR. Everything went pretty well with the swap. The trim pumps had to be moved, they were going to hit the coil packs. That was no big deal. As for as the engines, I ended up buying one that was new, and the other had 4 hours on it. The engines look great, especially next to the 496HO's. Looking forward to a run to get some numbers to lab the 30's I bought from Dock. I would put some pictures up but don't know how.

I'll take some this weekend when I'm at the lake and maybe someone can help me put them up.

Exactly what kind of issues? Hopefully no reprogramming. I would assume these engines were drop in???

What was the total cost for the 525's with install? I think you said one was new and one with 4 Hrs.?

Actually, not computer problems but wiring to get the digital engines converted to analog guages. We did just go run the boat. I'm running 28 labbed propellers and am on the rev limiter at 79gps with 4 guys. So with the new 30's I'm thinking 81-82. So I'm right where I was hoping to be.
