Yes, although I have heard some engines refered to as 310's, not sure were that number came from. For the most part all of the standard 454/7.4's were the same HP. I believe when the Gen VI EFI motors were introduced they changed the ratings.

I know it's not a Baja but I'm running the same 330 motor in a 223 Formula and with an older Mirage 23p I'm getting 59 on gps with two people and 60 gallons of fuel. My boat's hull and outdrive are mint and the motor has 350 hours on it. The boat came with a 21p mirage and switching to the 23p got me right to 4600rpm's with a light load. I was just reading recently someone claimed to gain 3mph simply by refinishing the bottom, could be bs though, but can't hurt to remove as much drag as possible.

Thanks bacon1 I am gonna focus on getting my hull clean and slick and I'm looking for a new lower unit case. Does anyone know if the older model gears and guts will work in a new case? Will the new case bolt up to the 1997 and older drive?

where is the cheapest place for the -2 case? I also tried the two props and had big problems with both. One was a three blade 21 that was reworked and stamped 23 it also had the flare cut off and was satin finished. the boat would barely come up on plane and hit rev limiter pretty hard with less top speed. I had to turn around and swap it out then i put on the 23 converted to a 25 3 blade and lost a few mph. it performed a lot better (than the 23) but would still spin out and lose grip in turns. it pulled my buddy on a knee board pretty well but still hit rev limiter. The boat did 52mph gps with the well used 21p mirage plus that came on it. I have hit the limiter with that and gotten airborn
. it pulls the skiers fine but i want a bit more top end. What do I need to do next? the other props both did mid 40s i didnt even write it all down, I was pretty upset. Thanks for your help. I need it.
Also with 7 people and big coolers the 232 would only do about 42-43 pegged out. It was a slow poker run. Thanks gabaja242 for waiting on us.

Not that it's much help, but my 252 will do 62-63 on the dream-o-meter turning a labbed 23. I also have about 400 hp's at the crank on a carb'd 454. I would say that when it comes down to it, you just need more horsepower.

Like someone else said, fix the little stuff 1st. Like in drag racing the speed is in the setup.
I would send the propeller to Brett @ Bblades in Princeton, Wi. When you get the bottom paint off, I'd hit it with something more aggressive than the 1000 grit. Get it off there then touch it up with the 1000. Leave the back 4' rough (1000 grit rough). The rest of the hull can be shined up to look pretty.
Clean up the skeg & the cav plate.
Verify the tachometer is reading correct & don't be afraid to spin that thing upwards of 5k. They will handle it just fine, just don't be a retard about it because it won't live all day spining 5 grand. 4600 to 4800 would be where I'd shoot for. Test it how you will use it. Don't do your testing with fumes in the tank & one bottle of water in the cup holder. Load it down like it will be used. Don't be afraid to ask!
