I'm not sure why they did that as they had to put that z shaped pipe in there to get the exaust back down below the swim platform.

Taller riser, extra part....no way that was cheaper. Am thinking it may have something to do with the blue motor options but that's just a guess.

great work there. looks good. The shorty won't make a big difference (although it looks great), but if you add the extension box with the shorty, you will see noticeable gains.

Wildcard went through all of this. search his posts. haven't seen him on here in a year or so. He did an extension box with 3" rise and raised the motor. I would recommend the straight box and a -2 or -3 shorty. I did a -2 shorty (no extension box yet) and I like it. No noticeable gain but same speed with less trim which is nice. So I kept it. Not beating the drive to death.

From my understanding, the taller risers are specified for use when the engines are sitting low in the boat.

I know some of the local OEM's that comply with Mercruiser's 2 year extended warranty use those risers. Trying to prevent reversion.

UPDATE: I am using the 23p Rev4 prop and getting 64 mph at 5100 rpm. I like it much better than the 23p Mirage plus it is 2 mph faster. I was hoping for a speed increase with the SC drive/-2 shorty, but found nothing there speedwise. As a matter of fact I lost 1.5 mph...more power loss through the SC vs. the B1X I guess. The boat planes easily and has more power rating so its all good for now. My next step is to pull the motor this winter and upgrade the internals. With the Raylar upgrades and a stroker crank we are shooting for 630 hp. I will be sure to post the results, but it will be several months. Until then I will enjoy the Baja and wish everyone an awesome summer!

At 5100 RPM I would guess you are in the same boat as me....spin a 26P prop...maybe get the rpm's back with labbed prop and lower slip.
