I would go Bravo X, I don't think you will have a problem, drop a quart every few weeks and keep a eye on color of fluid. You can run them 90 + without any issues of blowout if everything is close to being right

Just don’t think I’m ready to go that route yet. I have to try and keep the reliability. I want the cake and to eat it as well.

So a Bravo XR showed up today, purchased from a fellow member. Price was good and just have too many other things going on to spend the cash to experiment on a scx-4. At least this way I should be able to get a baseline. The XR isn’t pretty but it’ll do.

I posted a while back, How does your boat do getting on plane? I have a neutral imco box, 380 k planes, -3 and a 28 bravo wheel, getting on plane with a loaded boat is work. Light is no prob, but 6-8 peeps and I have to shift weight. On plane the boat is awesome, sits on the pad, close to 80, the 380's made a huge difference for the rough stuff on the ICW over the 280's so I can't go back. I'm tossing the idea of cutting the k planes as if I was clearancing for twins or trying a p5/ Maximus to run when I'm gonna have a loaded boat. Fill me in brutha... Stan

I’m hoping the bravo/sport master lowers slip a bit with the smaller diameter bullet, I was at 24ish% with the scx 30 bravo 1 combo. I’d like to be at 21ish% with the bravo/sport master, which is still high but would be easier on the drive. Still shooting for 90s. I am taking a little bit of a risk being that this is a 1.35:1 lower. If nothing else cruise speed will be better right?! That’s if this thing stays together..... I pulled the top cap and steering cap to inspect the gears a bit. Guess I wasn’t surprised at what I found but not really what I expected either. It’s very clear some good size chunks were removed just behind 7 teeth on the top gear, or the forward gear on a left hand rotation drive. So being I spin right hand that gear would have not be used in reverse. So hopefully I can get some hours out of it yet. Huge thanks to Mrgadgets here on OSO, Dick’s Performance Marine in MI. A wealth of knowledge and just a very nice guy! He gave me the idea to flush the drive out with mineral spirits to try and get some of the chunks if they hadn’t already came out. So we did that, no chunks. Still have to stick a magnetized rod up the drain hole just to make sure.
