Well...after less than 7hrs the bravo gears are showing signs of impending failure. I noticed a couple of “chips” in the upper gear when I drained the lube to install the 1” spacer. That was after maybe 4hrs. Now after this weekend, babying it onto plane very easily only twice, every tooth looks like it has the chip in it. So I think the bravo experiment is over. Hoping a new imco scx-4 will be here by this weekend.

Sounds about right. Did you get some additional speed out of the spacer?

Didn’t run it over 50 after I added the spacer. I was just trying to keep it from grenading at that point. Trim was more responsive with the 1” spacer however, so I think it would’ve helped.

Got a couple props to test once the drive shows up. Was hoping to have it here by this weekend but no. Also have a adapter to test bravo style 5 blade props

Me too, but have no idea what to expect. If the cleavers don’t work I can go back to the bravo style props thanks to oso member mickeymcclgn’s #6 to bravo square hub adapter. I may/probably will need a torque tab added to the skeg if I end up using a big diameter cleaver.

Finally here. They shipped without the input shaft on so that’ll make it easier to put the extended shaft on. Didn’t expect them to ship if full of torco though. I prefer to hang the upper then mount the lower to the upper as I don’t have a drive stand but I’ll have to hang it from a hoist I think. There’s not much man handling these drives like a bravo if you like your back.

Frustrating day. The XR I bought apparently has the rare bearing cup dia size on the u joint, 1.328”. The Imcos use the 1.219 bearing size. So the extended input shaft I bought about a month ago for the XR that I thought I could use with scx4 will not work. I swore the last scx I had used the 1.328 bearings but according to imco no. So I’m hoping the correct shaft will be here tomorrow, but I’m not holding my breath. Everything else is ready to go, helmet is on, lube reservoir bolted in.
