Its this big dick syndrome..
Mine has to be bigger than yours..
So let me prove it by driving the biggest hunk of junk I can finance.
Then the next guy has to get a bigger one,
and so on and so on..
We have an 80ft sport fisherman (Bertram I think? ) on Travis,, talk about stupid to the bone, lets take a 1.5m boat designed for fishing 250lb Marlins on the open ocean and put it on a skinny land locked lake..

I agree 100%. I honestly don't see why the DNR or Corp of Engineers allows these ocean type yachts to operate on such a small lake. I would really be interested to know how much damage to docks and boats have been caused by these boats plowing through such a small lake.

We can be sitting out on porch and you can hear the boats running hard going by.
Actually we were anchored about 100 yds out of (at the time, don't know what the name is now) Shades Cafe but we don't do that anymore.

I know down in Key Largo in th area where my cousin leaves if the cops see you on plane anywhere near a canal, dock, parked boat you WILL get stopped and ticketed, night or day, whether its a jetski or a cruise ship.

As for nighttime on Lake Travis there is a minimum plane law it just isnt enforced. We dont need more laws we just need the ones we have enforced. Like not letting jet skis and wakeboard boats run circles 5 ft in front of private docks and marinas, not let people run 70mph at night when law says minimum plane speed, not let people with big cruisers and houseboats having their 6 year old son driving ( i was almost run over (AT IDLE) by a moron letting his kid drive a 100ft houseboat WHILE towing another boat.. If it wasnt for my airhorn I would have been hit hard. Not let idiots in big cruisers run at maximum plow speed right by anchored boats and then look back and laugh at the mayhem their battlecruiser caused with its wake.. Not let blowboters anchor in the middle of the channel with no friggin anchor lights. Not let moron parents tow their kids tubing down the MIDDLE of the channel on the busiest days of the year. I could go on all day..

While booze doesnt help there are plenty of friggin morons out there totally sober.
Just finished a big conference
( TAMEST / The Academy of Medicine, Engineering and Science of Texas)
and one of the conclusions of the conference was the average American IS getting dumber with each generation. I already had assumed that but its nice to have actual evidence.

I think these rules apply every where.

basically people should have some Phu cking Brains !

People should give a crap about eachother and if they dont they should be shunned off the water in thier respective areas.

Years ago if someone acted like an azz hole the community would teach them a lesson/ shun them etc. People were worried more about thier standing in the community than anything else today we reward people with reality shows for acting like morons. Its no wonder we see it in everyday real life.

People have NO RESPECT or COMMON SENSE anymore.

And pontoon boats should never be equipped with docking lights. 80% of the ones that have them think they are headlights.

Performance Boats Magazine on page 22 of Jan 2011 issue:

June 2005 Colorado River near Topock: Officers stopped 170 boats and made 17 arrests for DUI. That is EVERY TENTH BOAT OPERATED BY A DRUNK.

Last year at Lake of the Ozarks between July and Sept: 58% of 330 stops had blood alcohol above .08. THAT IS OVER HALF THE OPERATORS DRUNK.

I have a family. Are the rest of you guys comfortable with these facts?
