I load with just me in the boat. All passengers get out on dock. Not worried about a ghost throttle up! Like u said the throttle will naturally decrease but wont increase.

Still don't see it as being a bright idea. chances are it wil only throttle down but doesnt mean it wont slip into R or something else. But whatever works for you. But leaving any vehicle in gear and leaving it unattended is IMVHO a very stupid idea, sorry.

Now it just sounds like you're playing "what if" to death! What if the boat accidentally started itself, then jumped into gear and the throttles were accidentally shoved forward while YOU were winching your boat on the trailer? Or what if a killer whale suddenly rammed the back of the boat while loading. I do exactly ast Scarab63, and havn't had a problem.

Whatever works I guess. But leaving something in gear unattended is rediculously stupid. Ive seen it done and know what you are talking about. Just bad practice. And yes you can what if it to death. But look around at a lot vehicle accidents due to people not having the vehicle in park, or it was gear. But hey its your property, your life, your liability.

not in gear. park is different. Would I ever leave a manual trans in gear and running while out of my sight, NO, another stupid idea. Like I said do what you want and what works for you, but that is why we have WFV, bloopers, worst crashes epidode 101, because of actions like this.

Well thanks for your 2¢ .
What if a 9 yr old joy rides your car while your inside the store and kills someone? There's a million " what if " scenarios.

I thought u were one of the guys soliciting advice here??? Awful ballsy to jump on people's advice that are trying to help as stupid.

Maybe you disagree... but ' what if ' next time your less of a dick.

Jesus Christ - you guys can really take the fun out of boating. If I had to spend my life panicked about something as simple as throwing my boat on the trailer I would not enjoy the sport at all.

Let's just agree to disagree and move on. The bottom line is that whatever people's individual method is the most important thing is moving at a pace your comfortable with, acting methodically, and having a well prepared/trusted plan of attack.

Enjoy your weekends.

Man oh Man, I couldn't agree more. Geez guys, this thread was going really well, and then you guys started back n forth over ridiculous things. I agree completely with you, just go slow, at your own pace, use common sense, and everything will be fine..!!!
