Yes, Rob does paint work on the side. A friend of Rob's is also a painter and is helping us out with this projec. Rob and Eddie have been painting together for over 6 years and have many years of painting experience between them.

Lofty, I'm sure Rob mentioned his wife isn't as excited as he is about the whipples LOL??? Trust me, he's already been talking to me about contacting you when the time comes. Hopefully it can happen next winter.

We have twin 454's with 525hp. Whipples are being talked about because I guess 70 isn't fast enough so we need to do 80 and well, I'm being taught (Rob and I have only been together for a few years) continuously that you can never go too fast LOL.

Queenie 03-29-2005 09:45 AM

Re: Winter Project Progress

I can honestly I am getting better about not making comments such as "why do we need to go that fast?" to my husband any more.

He looks at me as if I have 3 eyes!

Rob and Barb-
Thanks for stopping by Sunday. It was nice to finally meet you. Thanks for the advice on the boat. Hope you're having as much fun sanding as we are. :D

Blocking is done!! Ready for more paint.

Too fast!?!?!?! Is there such a thing? Barb, I hope I didn't stress you two out too much? I'm glad you got the panels ok. When I get them back for engraving we'll fix the angled bezel issue.

Rob,
I am planing to make a "diamond plate" from bb to sb side.
Just to get rid of this ugly "plywood". Then I put back my bat-boxes at bb side.
A drawing in next post if you want the same!!

Rob should be spraying white tonight or tomorrow. He wants to do the white all at one time, but time isn't permitting that and there's no need to wait 2 days in order to get a full day to do so.

Should have some pics with color next week!!!!

Adam/Beth, don't hesitate to call if you need anything. We're just down the street! It's gonna be a great summer!

There is no such thing as too fast Lofty (did I get that right Robster??)

No stress Lofty. Rob's the one stressing because he really, really wants them next year and it looks like he may have to wait 2 years on them:-((

We love our panels. You out did yourself Lofty!! I wished we had gotten your call about getting the pics of the gauges in the panels. We had put everything away and let me tell you, that's a lot of work! It's going to look sweet! Thanks for making our day and week on Tuesday!

Mange, Rob's been going right from work to the boat so he hasn't been on OSO much (and neither have I for that fact).

We talked about doing diamond plate last year when we had the motors pulled but just ran out of money and time. I'll have Rob take a look at this sometime over the weekend.

Mange, we both leave the house by 7:20AM, get home at 5:30PM from work (that's if we don't drive straight to the place where our boat is), change clothes, maybe eat, at the boat by 6:10 or so and get home between 9:30 and 10PM if we're lucky.

I'm lucky we get our teeth brushed everyday!

Adam-

We're painting our control panels now and then have to return them to CA for some final touches. Once we get them back we'll be installing our new gauges so we'll have several gauges available and you're welcome to take a look at which ones you may be able to use. Should be about 3 weeks by the time we are ready to install new gauges. If we forget please call or PM us around that time and we'll drop them off so you can take a look at them.

Dash plates came out great! Will clear them today so we can return them to Lofty for final touches. The cockpit is painted and will get pictures of it today.

The picture does the dashplate no justice. It looks really good with the detailing in the flames.

So, that's it so far. Should be clearing by mid-week.

Hey Rob,

Were you the guy who was going to come up with some kind of zipper hatch door? I want to change mine, and I think it is the same as yours.

I'm curious if you are the one who mentioned it, and what you idea was.

Thanks!

Yes fund, we are the ones who are replacing our current cabin door with a zipper door. It's in the process of being done as I type and should be done sometime next week.

I believe what Rob said we were going to have the vinyl edges sewed over an aluminum frame and screw that back onto our existing frame, and place a zipper down the middle that will go from the entire length of the cabin door with snaps on the bottom outside.

When that gets done we'll take some photos and post them as well.

Re: Winter Project Progress

Thanks Barb.

I am pretty sure that I have the same companionway hatch opening that you guys do. Was formerly the folding door with the lifting top. The last guy who owned my boat took the doors of and you can still put them in place, but they are super heavy. I have been going without a door.

Maybe something like what you guys do would work for me.

Have a good one, thanks for the response.
