A quick reply can't possibly pay homage to the work of art you two have created. I have to say that even the low res shots I'm seeing are just amazing. I came here to find out more info on the Stinger 415 and your boat just left me slack jawed as I took in the beauty of it.

I am entertaining buying a 1986 415 Stinger that has TRIPLE BLOWN big blocks. Engine condition unknown, interior condition unknown etc. Price is LOW! ANY help would be very appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

Mike thanks for the very nice compliment. It's been a long winter working on this project but all the time, tiredness, b**ching, late nights, sanding, sanding and more sanding is finally paying off......even more so when we receive compliments such as this and we have been fortunate to receive quite a few.

I know Rob would be interested in talking to you about the 415. Our Stinger is an 88 and blowers will hopefully be going on in the next winter or two.

PM him and any questions you have and he'll help out as much as he can. He loooooooves to talk boats!!!

I have owned three boats in the 30' range that I have done major work on in order to get them sea worthy. Two of them Sport Fishers that we painted as part of the major refits. I have an idea of what you guys accomplished. I wish you many fun filled seasons on the water! I will try to PM Rob about the 415.

Thanks again,

Mike

VI mike, keep in mind that it may look like a good deal, but those big blown engines dont last that long before rebuild, and if u have to get into rebuiling 3 blown big blocks that a lot of $$.

Rob, a question:
I got some clear and some hardener. I was given a different hardener than what Scott had. I got HS Hardener 3315. Is this right or do I need to exchange it? Hope fully we'll be ready for clear by the weekend or early next week or whenever help may be available. I will call the paint guys and see what their schedules look like :D

Adam, I'll let Rob know you posted this....he's been working a lot this week but he'll have more time after today to talk with you.

We have almost one side completely sanded and buffed. Still have 20 or more hours of sanding/buffing to do. Thank God for Eddie that's all we have to say! The "paint guys" will be together this weekend so don't hesitate to give them a call. Your boat looks great from the pics we've seen so far. Keep up the good work!

I got too much on my plate right now, I'm cutting my losses and selling it as is. First $5500.00 takes it on the trailer. I can't beleive it hasn't sold yet to be honest with you.

Cora not Chris

The 415 Chris and the 40' Corsa look alike I have found. Not blown, but 400 hp+ each w/ Speedmasters. Pretty good shape.

I hope everyone has a great season out on the water. Any more pics? The cockpit maybe? The guage panel was looking cool.

Was that "wow" because we have so much work left to do on it???? LOL.

Thanks guys. It's coming along.....slowly, but coming along. Rob worked on it all day yesterday until he had to go to work and I think he'll get on it again today at some point. I wet sanded the side and bow Monday for 8 hours. I was done after 8 hours of sanding.

We know at this point it will be mid-June before we're in. We're just 2 people like yourselves and well, it's just going to take time.

Saw the pics of yours cleared. Can't wait to see it in person. I may just have to stop without Rob when I see your car there. Eddie really liked the hardener you used.

Gauge panel is back in Calif being etched with some final touches and hopefully we'll have that back next week, which will be about the time we're done with all of the buffing.

That's WOW because it looks great!
We're going to start sanding tonight. Can't buff until all the clear is on and we still need to do the deck and cockpit. And I thought boating was fun :D Stop by we'll probably be there.

So glad you received it Mange! We do have the original dash panels that I'm not sure what we're doing with yet.

We have been busy sanding so we don't have any new pics. Rob has been busy with the new business we bought so his time isn't as free as we're use to but we do work on when we can. I wet sanded the bow for 8 hours on Monday and he hit it hard on Tue/Wed.

Once we get it buffed next week we'll pull it out of the garage and take some pics outside. I have one outside pic that I'll try and post this weekend.

I was only joking about how much work is left to do, but there are days we are saying "wow, we still have a lot to do."

We have the bow almost all sanded down and the other side is almost completely sanded down. We have two small areas that have to be repainted/cleared but that will take us a few hours. We hope to be done buffing the entire thing by May 22.

Sanding is a pain!!! We had no idea what we were in for when we thought repainting the boat by ourselves was a good idea. This is going to be worth all the effort though. I think these boats are going to turn some heads!

You're right, sanding is a pain!!! And here I thought the prep work was the hardest!

Thank God Eddie is going to start buffing the boat while Rob is at work this morning (do you notice how Eddie's name is everywhere on this board??? How do you repay someone like that? He doesn't even think twice about it while we're trying to figure out how to thank him). We'll get over there early this afternoon and hopefully the other side will be done and the bow by the time we leave tonight.

The food was good and the turnout was great! Almost everyone had a good time :evilb:

We'll catch up this weekend. Just got back from Florida last night. I leave Orlando and it's 85 and sunny and land in cloudy, cool rain. Why oh why do we continue to live here???

Finally finished sanding and buffing the outstide of the boat. Even has it's first coat of glazing on it! Started putting cleats, lights, etc. back on her. Have one side inside the cockpit left to sand and buff but that will be nothing.

Suppose to have gauge plates back on Friday and will take the holiday weekend to finish them (isn't like it will be boating weather here anyway).

Keeping our fingers crossed that we can launch her the first weekend in June.

Will try and have pics next week.

I'm waaaiiiitiiiiiinnng. It's the weekend. I hope you are not having anxiety attacks. To make me get through long refits, I would pretned to be jumping into the water as I came off the boat. Try it it's fun.

Jump of the swim platform and go "spluuussh" as you hit the ground. :D

Mike, if we had a swim platform I would......jumping off the back of the transom onto the concrete is something I'd be afraid to do LOL! :D

Things are slower than we want them to be, but we're shooting for the week of June 11 to be in. That might be optimistic and June 18 may be more realistic. Depends on how much time Rob is able to work on the boat in the evevnings when he's not working.

Thank God for our friends. While Rob has been working and even a few hours when he hasn't, we have been invited to join them on their boats :evilb: :evilb:

Sweetie, we'll be in only a few days before or the same day! We're targeting June 15 but that will be determined on how much Rob has to work between now and then.

Saturday was such a productive day, however Sundy I made Rob stop working at 4PM. Everything he touched something went wrong, scratched paint, washers too big, bolts too long........you think you're going to get all this work done on a certain day and crap like that happens! UGH!!!!!!!!

Posted on Scotty's thread......boat looks awesome Adam. We will definately celebrate the weekend all our boats hit the water.....even if it rains LOL!

It's been a while since we've posted, but we honestly spend every minute we're not sleeping working on the boat.

I am proud to say we are launching Sunday, June 19. I will post pics next week when I can finally sit down and download some photos. The gauges came out sweet.....thanks again Lofty for an excellent job there. By the way, how was the honeymoon????

We couldn't have done this without the help of some wonderful friends. Eddie for the use of the garage, for helping Rob with painting and clearing and input on design:-). Denice, I owe you at least $1000 for dinners, entertainment and drinks. You both are a God send. To Jim and Patty for the nights/days you gave up boating to help us and Jeff/Kathy for helping us get that rub rail put on, and of course don't forget the wash/wax party is tomorrow:-)) Scott/Sonya for sharing a building with us for part of the winter and the help with the windshield and vents...some fun times there. We'll once again get back to hanging out and working on making more memories!

It's been a project beyond anything we imagined. We would have been in June 1 had it not been for the 3 weeks we were gone a week at a time doing business stuff and being sick.

We can't wait to get get on the water and start seeing our friends once again. I know they're tired of hearing us bit*hing about not being done and the sadness we experienced working on the boat while everyone was out on the water having fun. We'll be there now......let the summer begin!!!!!!

Pics next week..........

Here we are at the rub rail party (always entice your friends with food and drink....there's always a few that are bound to come through for you....and we're very thankful for them!).

Aluminum rail and it looks great. Would have thought the professionals did it themselves:-))
