How do you know what # the boat is?

Hollowpoint 10-24-2007 06:20 AM

Keytime in post 193 has a good idea. Someone who may have some extra time should try to get the Bullet production history down on a spread sheet. I'm sure every Bullet owner would like to see that info.

HIGH PRESSURE 10-24-2007 08:26 AM

We need to get together for a poker run. The cig 20s do it in MI. Anyone up for it?

Yes, just redone almost everything except for the paint and have changed that up some got rid of the purple above the rub rail and redid platform as well.

Hollowpoint 10-24-2007 11:20 AM

I unfortunately can't do any long hauls with the Bullet. I have a Suburban with a 350 and with a 10K hitch, but I'm near the max. It's OK for short runs, but I don't want to haul it too far. Don't see a new tow vehicle anytime soon if I spend it all on the boat :)

If it's in my backyard I'M THERE!

Hollowpoint 10-24-2007 11:22 AM

BTW. For all you river and lake guys, we've got the OCEAN here! That always makes it interesting!

Guess i got some bad information. jryan told me you only wear purple panties. Guess your girlfriend is color blind.:violent-smiley-045::cool:

Hollowpoint 10-25-2007 09:13 PM

Thanks for the compliment. I'm not really fond of the all red and have plans to paint it hopefully in a couple of years. It'll still be mainly red, but with white under the chines and on the deck (It gets too hot with bare feet) and some simple/classic graphics.

Is this the panty or Bullet thread? :)

Pink panties and Cigarettes, think I found the place! Questions to the members, I'm taking delivery of a 1988 Cigarette Bullet on Friday, don't know the production number yet, and cant find anyplace online that can help me read the hull id number. I found the boat on boats.com and the exterior looks good, the interior is dated, but its a start. Does anyone know if Cigarette sells a swim platform that fits a bullet? Any advice before I write the check would be appreciated, Thanks

5050 10-29-2007 09:11 PM

survey.

Steve_H 10-29-2007 09:13 PM

post a link to the one your considering. someone will know it.

you can get a swim platform from extreme but they are pricey. http://www.skyjac.com/swim_platforms..._run_boat.html

Heres another platform.http://westcoastoffshoreunlimited.com

Congrats!!! That is a clean looking Bullet. Nice cover. Are you going to keep it at LOTO? Did you pick up a trailer with it?

I have an Extreme platform that was on mine when I bought it. I saw that boat a while back. If it's a good running project boat, I think it's a good deal. Hopefully, you got a survey.

The only thing that looked fishy to me was the engine specs. It's hard to tell what has been done to the engines, but if the engines are not modified, the original brochure for the Bullets lists only 3 engine options (I'm sure Cig would have put anything a customer wanted in one though). Only 2 engine options had bravos, the 330 and the 365. It lists the 420's as having TRS drives.

Also, if you post the HIN number on here, we can read it for you. I have the code meanings at home somewhere.

Good luck!
Where do you boat at?

:ernaehrung004:

They're modifying a Heritage trailer to fit it, it had only an old yard trailer that was included. I'll be using it around Lafayette LA, Vermilion Bay and offshore, Cypremort pt, I am new to the offshore scene, but after looking through OSO, I's like to try a few local poker runs.

Heres the HIN: CRT31B12J788

The engines have 200 hrs, on the rebuild, I did a "boatfax" type deal online, looked clean, I am trying to schedule a survey before I purchase, but dont know if I am able to wait! I am very interested in any original Cigarette documents-owners manuals, brochures, etc. the only thing that the dealer has is for the engines. I really appreciate the help!

Hollowpoint 10-30-2007 07:47 PM

Do they have any paperwork on the re-builds? I have that problem, since I have no idea how well and with what parts my engines were built with. They can blow on the next outing or last 5 years :)

OK here's the HIN code:
CRT = Cigarette
31B = 31' Bullet
12 = the hull number made
J = month made 10th letter = 10th month = Oct
7 = year made = 1987
88 = model year

This was how it was explained to me. Also, there is a bullet thread here you can search for that has the entire Bullet manual available as a PDF file. If the engines do have 400+ hp and the drives and props are good, you should see mid 60's for your speed.

If you've read any of the other Bullet threads, I don't think you will ever find anything bad written about them except that it takes major power to have high speed numbers. They take the seas as well as any boat under 38', are very stable, and have a nice cabin for a 31 footer. AND it's about the cheapest way to own an offshore legend!

Hollowpoint 10-30-2007 07:54 PM

BTW, I have to warn you. If you do a poker run, you may become addicted. Unfortunately, PR's are VERY expensive, but more fun that just about anything you can think of. I usually spend between $600-$1000 for a single poker run (between gas, slip, DVD and entry fee). I did one last year that I spent $700 on JUST for the fuel! Hopefully, you won't be quite so bad. Carburated blower motors probably drink 50% more than yours will.

DealmakerC6 10-30-2007 09:17 PM

Thanks, I think thats about what I needed to hear! Ive been wanting a Cigarette for just about as long as I can remember. Found the Bullet Manual on another thread, PM'd the guy that has it, hopefully he can email it to me before Friday.
