Just give people some time to get the hoidays over with and I think you will have more responces. Everyone is just so busy right now this time of year.

What's more important the the American Offshore Legend?

:)

Everyone have a most wonderful and blessed Merry Christmas.

Pardon me for not going back and checking every page of this thread (my computer is flippin' SLOW), but wasn't sure if this Bullet was included on the list.

Hollowpoint 01-02-2008 06:41 AM

That looks like 5050's?

Keytime, are you still in the market and is a Cig still at the top of the list? Good hunting this winter if you're still looking.

Thats Clay's boat---- IE; Claymates:D

Hollowpoint 01-02-2008 11:22 AM

It's easy to overlook Clay's boat's pics.....what do you mean? Those girls were on a boat? I never noticed the boat in the pics :)

All I see are Claymates!

That's what I get for not scrolling back through... looking like a jacka$$. Thank goodness I'm already used to it. :cool-smiley-011:
So... his boat was from Europe? That's where that pic was taken, I believe.

Yep, tracking a couple right now. As many can tell you, I've been boat-shopping a while. Just looking for the right one.
The Bullets are a little beyond my budget right now, but as time goes on, maybe I'll stretch it out a bit.
I really need to catch a ride in more of the boats I'm looking at. Would help my decision. Can only do so much by researching w/o seeing in person.

carter38 01-02-2008 01:49 PM

I bought the first bullet I rode in.

Hollowpoint 01-02-2008 02:15 PM

Mine's put up for the winter, but if you're still looking at boats and a Bullet may be in your budget next spring and you still haven't gotten a ride in one, come on to the coast. We'll go out in the Atlantic. Hopefully, the seas can provide some excitment.

If you post a proposed budget and let us know what you're looking for, we'll keep an eye out.

Me too!!

DealmakerC6 01-02-2008 11:20 PM

Anybody know if I need to wrap the drives? Got the Bullet under its mooring cover, but the drives are exposed, with a drop light in the engine compartment, we should hit 22-28 degrees for about 6 hours.

OL40SVX 01-02-2008 11:30 PM

If I were you I would have drained all the water out of the motors and headers. If you did that you should be good to go. Drives should be fine.

Just had all the fluids changed and the shop ran the engines and told me they had drained them after they ran. They were highly recommended, but I'm still new to this.

OL40SVX 01-02-2008 11:52 PM

Just hope they did and you should be set!

I don't believe I have seen that one before??? Is that a scoop on the engine hatch?

302Sport 01-03-2008 02:19 PM

that bullet has turbines in it, it was rigged by adam erdberg of tempest yachts back in days when they were messing with turbines, other than that I dont know much about it........

Hollowpoint 01-04-2008 09:24 PM

I talked to the guy and he sent me some pics. Yes, it has Russian built Turbines. It looks like the transom was heavily modified, but still had bravos. Engine compartment heavily modified. Cabin closet has the batteries. What looks like dual PLC controllers to control the engines on the cabin bulkhead. Dash modified quite a bit. I could keep going, but I think you guys have the idea. It will take alot of work to ever get it usable again with BBC engines. It may be OK for a project boat if bought cheap enough.

Got my fix today! Temps were up in the 70's and got her out in the bay and Intercoastal canal. Brought the camera, and didn't think to get some pics. Took a few on the trailer after I got back. Spent about 10 minutes in Vermilion Bay, found a fog bank at 1 or 2 in the afternoon. Unusual for here.
Thought I'd post a few pics since I havent yet, but the boat is in this thread earlier.

Did you have to repaint the stern, the whole boat, etc., before putting on the side graphics? My paint job is in good shape, looking to change the look to something newer without new paint/gelcoat. Any suggestions?

That's close to my paint job, but I have a white Cigarette oval (not a black one) and a red swim platform.

ttt

OK guys, holidays are over and I'm still not getting any PM's from anyone. When/If each of you that own a Bullet has a few minutes, could you please send me the following info via PM on this website? I'll put it together onto a spreadsheet with links to photos. It would be interesting to have the info in a single place to fill in the Bullet production history and to find out where fellow Bullet owners are. If you do not want to give out the info, could you please PM me and tell me so, and at least give me your hull number to help piece all the puzzle parts together. I do plan to start sending out PM's to known Bullet owners when I get a chance.

Any name you chose (real or nickname) but prefer real
email address
General boating area (ie Keys, LOTO, Hampton Roads, etc)
Phone Number (optional)
HIN number
year
power
drives
props
Speed
Mods and or upgrades
1 to 3 pics of boat (Claymates accepted)

Hollowpoint 01-27-2008 04:43 PM

Well, today I didn't have anything going, so I tried to find as many Bullet owners on this site and I sent out PM's requesting the info in the previous post.

I apologize for any disruptions, but I think this could help lots of Bullet owners, by providing a source of info that may help owners who may want to mod or upgrade their Bullet since it's been over a decade when the last one came off the production line. Thanks for any assistance you guys can provide.

Keytime 01-28-2008 11:04 AM

For any Bullet shoppers out there... I dropped by Raymond's at LOTO this weekend and snapped some pics of the Bullet for sale there.

http://rides.webshots.com/album/562293423VBLSZT

I'm quite the amateur, but here's my take:
- Cabin looked good to me.
- Cockpit looked original and needing some attention. Obviously some wood rot issues in the back seat.
- Engine compartment looked clean.
- Hull had white bottom paint. I should have taken close-ups of it. Might be covering something? Hull overall looked good, but I'm no expert, so I could be missing something.
- Some repaint here and there that wasn't great.

I wouldn't give $38k for it, but it looked like a decent upgrade-while-ya-drive Bullet. If I'm missing something, please speak up. :cool-smiley-011:

lakeluvr 01-28-2008 12:20 PM

Bottom paint??? Uggh!! Wood rot??? Ugghh. Sure might be a work in progress to buy and fix up, but why bother?? Mine is turn key and ready to go, and for less than you'd have in this one by the time you get it to level mine is. Fresh 502s, fresh American flag paint job, updated interior, updated dash with new gauges, throttles and shifters, aluminum swim platform with swim ladder, new Alpine stereo and lots more. Any real buyers out there???

FYI... I didn't show up as a serious buyer for this boat. I like the Bullets and wanted to check it out for myself. Just sharing what I saw with the Cig folks on this wonderful forum. :cool-smiley-011:

Hollowpoint 01-28-2008 01:30 PM

Someone else on this site was looking at that boat. Like Keytime said, I wouldn't pay 38K for it, but if they would take an offer about 20%-25% less, that would make a good project boat. If I had 50+K to spend, I would have looked at one of the finished boats on here for sale when I bought mine, but many just can't stretch the budget that far and still be able to buy fuel and have fun in it. Plus, when you get to the 60-70K mark, you can find some Cafe's in that price range.

Lakeluvr, what kind of speed do you get with the 502's?

And let's not forget that it's advertised with 330hp motors of unknown age!!!

I heard the motors are fresh. Being non-Mags doesn't help, but again, for the right price, I don't think it's the end of the world.

Didn't you think the engines/compartment looked clean and tidy?
What transom/gimbal issue did you see?

I don't recall any transom or gimbal issues ??? And for the size of a bullet, 660HP would be great ... X2. :D
