Personally i think that the work he is going to do will take a lot of time, but i think that it really could be done.
It will only take time, fiberglass and fiberglass clothes (a lot) and at the end it wll be really a great restoration.
I had done a few works on boats on my own and there is nothing that cannot be repaired, unless it is broken bad everywhere. My only doubt in this case would be on how much the fire affected the fiberglass....in the matter of temperature..
But if he takes out all the damaged pieces and cheks the strenght near the damaged places, it can be ok.

Keep it up! Show these guys it can be done right. I had my doubts when I saw your first pics. Its now clear to me you have the ability to pull it off.

Very few people could pull off a project like this one. It will be quite an accomplishment.

Hey Sydwayz, My shop was a 60x60 horse barn. Poles and a roof. I put in a floor 7000.00 , Pro panels and insulation about 3500.00 and a 20x12 insulated door 3200.00 installed. It still isn't finished yet though. My boating habit keeps getting in the way.You should check rural papers and farm mags for good deals on kits.:drink:

That is ONE big project, your an inspiration to many of us. The passion that I read in your post will surely payoff in the end product.

Do you know what extreme temps do the intregity of fiberglass? even if dont look damaged it can be... I dont want discurage you in any way.. but just thought I would give you some friendly advice.. just courious how much experance you have with fiberglass \ gelcoat repair? call Craig Barry he can give you some insight on you project. I admire your will to bring her back. carry on..

Also,
If this boat has a Salvage title, and/or has been claimed as a Total loss by an insurance company, It will be almost impossible to insure or finance said boat's HIN ever again.
I don't know of any Surveyor willing to sign off on a hull with this amount of fire damage.
Not trying to be negative...just being realistic.

Just wondering aloud here ( ....doh, is that really possible being that we are on the internet ?? :D ), but whats going to happen also when someone goes to try and insure it if its a salvage branded title ? Will it be tough to do ? I would think so, especially if someone is going to want to finance the boat. Would a lender even finance this one also ? Unless he is going to keep this boat FOREVER, I would find some of these things out now..

I do admire the dedication involved on this one thus far.

i may be wrong but i dont think boats are tracked like vehicles. his title probably doesnt say anything about salvage.

I had bought a sunk boat that was salvage and was not written on it unlike cars, and even when I transfered the US Title to a canadian title there where no mention of total loss or salvage boat either...
