Here's mine. I would love to run them side by side and have that on a video. The 24' Cigarette brotherhood

I would never spend $100K on a 24, maybe a Cafe or a TG. Bad investment -period

You're on the wrong website for that comment. Period.

Croozin2 06-28-2008 11:06 AM

Boats were never meant to be an investment - period.:D

BTW, CR1, that 24 is really coming together, very impressive. Of course, I wouldn't expect anything less from Phil's shop. Looks like it won't be long now. Congrats!

Being a fellow boat owner it appears you've already made a bad investment....

I don't believe it's just "a boat". There's a family bond and rememberance going on too.

Tank
You are 100% right!
On top of that how many million dollar price range powerboats do you see come up for sale right after the owner finishes having them built? Big name brands both cat and V. They are just not attached to them at all. I doubt you will see that situation with this Firefox. I believe you will see the owner with a constant smile of satisfaction. Put a price on that.

LAKESIDE RESTORATIONS 06-29-2008 10:52 AM

It doesnt take long to get into some big $$ on any boat.. I think almost all boaters do things to thier boat because they like it and enjoy doing it. It's usually done as a hobby or for pure enjoyment with something you like, not from an investment standpoint.. Most do it for the love of the sport.. If it was for an investment, there are much better ways to make $$ like real estate, stock market, etc....

Just my 2 cents.. Jamie / Lakeside

I'm not his accountant, but the "investment" he's making probably hasn't cost him a minute of sleep. I bet which paint, upholstery colors, engine, and drive package to go with has stressed him out more than anything. I doubt he gave up electricity and running water for a year to fund the project.

I did this EXACT same project through Doller Offshore years ago with a 28. We redid every last piece of it, tip to tip. I had more fun in that boat and never regretted a penny spent, even when I sold it for much less. We knew that going in. The boat is still regarded as one of the top, if not THE top 28 Cigarette out there, and I get to see it run almost every weekend.

It's looking GREAT!! I bet you can't WAIT to run her. Thanks for keeping us in the loop! :ernaehrung004:

Blee's old 28 and his current Skater. That 28 is one beautiful boat. Restoring these old boats has nothing to do with money. It is all about memories with the boat, or just the pride of taking something worn out and making it new again.

Don't Taz me Bro!! - I am not upside down on my Cig - Two rebuilt Gellners 572 EFI's with 20 hours and a perfect hull. I paid $38K and stuck another $15K on the motors. What's a Firebox worth? What's an SS worth (nice MPG boat) - My Cafe can even go out when the waves are 2-3 - hell, I have had her in 8-10's. Don't get me wrong, I almost but a Cigarette tattoo on my shoulder. I love them, but $100K on a Firefox?

Hey, when a new 22 cobalt br w/ stock sbc is $50k(sticker $65k), to have a new lipship FF aint so bad.
And yea... it's an older hull, but thats just fiberglass.

A brand new 24 pantera w/ serious hardware would be in the 80k-90k range.

cigracing1 07-01-2008 08:28 AM

Oreo11zeus,

I don't even know where to begin. I'm doing this boat in memory of my brother who tragically past away so put a number on that, this boat is priceless in my eyes.

Your also right about investments and boats which is why I don't buy boats as an investment I buy them to enjoy my forever growing passion for the water and Cigarette.

For everyone watching this project and supporting it I appreciate all the comments.

Trying to put a $ figure on this Firefox is a worthless exercise. Have you even read the story behind it or are you just flaming? This is the Cigarette forum for Cigarette enthusiasts. Most are here because they love their boat and the brand. Don't hate.
