Lip Ship 39

What exactly is the difference between a Lip Ship prepped 39 and a regular 39? We will be in Miami friday, saturday, and sunday of the boat show weekend and plan on going to dealers and the cig factory on Friday and the boat show on saturday and sunday. We are serious buyers and would like to stop by Lip Ship as well

OL40SVX 01-12-2008 09:37 PM

Nothing really that any other dealer cant do or the factory. They are nice though. We own a Lip-Ship edition. You have to remember Philly wont take a trade if you have to trade your Formula in. Go to the show and talk to Ocean Performance!! Im sure we'll see you at one of Cigarette's places during the show time!!

Stormrider 01-12-2008 10:14 PM

I've heard phil's attention to detail is like no other.
plus you can get zul's from him. not too sure if the factory can do that.

OL40SVX 01-12-2008 10:22 PM

The factory maybe cant but some other dealers can. I believe premierpower wants a 700 39 so it shouldnt be a problem.

Phil has an extremely strong & very loyal following. I believe there’s a reason for this:

First and foremost, you will not get better customer service from anyone in the industry...PERIOD! Phil treats his customers like family. And when you become a Lip-Ship customer you do actually feel like part of a big family.

To me (and many others) there is nothing more valuable, especially in this day and age of boating, than having someone in the industry that is dependable. Someone that you can call on at any time with a question, problem or need and have it taken care of, with out question, in a time period that is staggering to the mind. When most complain about not getting a call back from some dealers and builders, Phil actually gives his clients his personal cell number and will routinely answer it while he's on the water, at dinner with a client, or busy with a build.

In regards to the actual “lip-ship” edition boats;

He walks the boat through the build process, every step of the way and keeps the customer informed on all aspects.
Attention to detail is his forte. He throws in little nick knacks and cool subtle details you just don’t get on other boats. “Subtle Bling,” is his thing!
If you, as a customer building a boat, have special needs or requests Phil will make it happen. This includes paint, power package, interior, cabin, etc.

He dials in every boat before delivery and with you upon delivery obtaining the peak performance out of it. There will be no need to change props or tinker with anything in an attempt to get more speed.

Lip-ship boats demand a higher dollar on the used market than a non lip-ship boat when or if you decide to sell.

He is the longest running Cigarette-only dealer. Like many Cigarette owners He is 100% committed to Cigarette and extremely brand loyal. He understands buying a new Cigarette is an amazing experience that only few in the world are able to accomplish. He also realizes that parting with that much currency is not something to be taken lightly. He puts himself into the buyer’s shoes to ensure the purchasing experience is an enjoyable experience instead of a stressful one.

If you are fortunate enough to be able to experience the Lip-Ship “concierge” service while keeping your boat at TNT marina you’ll experience a level of service that is unrivaled in the industry.

Some balk at the added cost of a “Lip-Ship” boat but I don’t think most realize it’s not just the boat you’re getting, it’s a whole lifestyle.

I would highly recommend contacting him and going over what your expectations and desires are. Like fountain40icbm said, he will not take your Formula on trade. Like I said above, he is 100% Cigarette. Good luck with whatever you decide. Wish I was in your shoes.

thanks for the responses... we have a lot of decsions to make. The no trade in could be the deal breaker for us. Hard to justify $700k + while holding on to another boat that could take over a year to sell in todays market....

If you pay $700k plus for a Top Gun you have lost your mind, LipShip or not..........

well fully loaded with taxes, with a myco thats the with asking price. What is a ballpark reality price that people are paying, after taxes?

Etc.

Plus, if you want Harold from Grafikworx to design and paint your Cigarette ( and trust me you do), you have to buy from Phil. Sure, the factory can paint your boat, but the quality level is just not the same. Buy a Lip-Ship and you get the best.

OL40SVX 01-13-2008 12:25 PM

I agree Harold is awesome but he doesnt only paint for Phil! If I wanted him to paint my boat he wouldnt turn me down!

You are partially right. Harold paints for Nortech and others. However, he will not paint a new Cig unless it comes from Lip-Ship.

asking 439

ktron 01-13-2008 02:51 PM

Phil is the man! The best customer service hands down and attention to detail is off the charts. We are on our second Lip-Ship edition Cig and we have had two other Cigs prior to that and when I am ready for my next Cig, I will be buying from Phil. I have called Phil on a Sunday before to ask him a question. that is not your average customer service. When you buy a Lip-Ship, you get an insane boat and insane service. The complete package!

DK

Yes it is Tom and its an awesome paint job. I was saying if i had another boat that i wanted painted and it was a Cigarette im sure Harold would be happy to take my money!! See you down in Miami at Philly's!! Im not hating on Philly since we have dealt with him and such. He builds a great boat but when you really look at it you can do all of his little special touches through the factory or another dealer. Tom, you know Chris can build you a real nice Cigarette as well!!

I can call numerous people in this industry on Sunday and get service as well. Like I said we bought from Phil and it was great just that everyone praises to him like he's a god. He is one of the best in the business and there's no doubt about it but there are others too that are Cigarette dealers.

We are wanting a brand new one at this point I think....

OL40SVX 01-13-2008 03:41 PM

Dont let everyone on here tell you where to go. Go to the show and talk with all the dealers, Lip-Ship, Ocean Performance and Pier 57 ect.... If you need to trade see which one offers you the best deal. Your going to get an awesome Cigarette no matter where you go!!

I'm on my 12th boat, a 39 Cig built with Phil. I've had Baja, Formula and Fountain among others. I will agree that there are some very good servicing dealers in the business. I just haven't had the pleasure of buying a boat from them.

Based on the 12 boats I have purchased, Phil IS Boat God!

Good luck with your decision and you will love your Cigarette.

Better built, better paint, sometimes even faster. Let someone else enlighten you. I don't want to explain once again.(no disrespect to you)

LOL!!!
Better built? -- How is it different from lets say a Pier57 Cigarette?
Better paint? -- Grafik-Worx does awesome work, but there are alot of incredible painters/designers out there.
Sometimes faster, okay sometimes so they come with labbed props or herrings etc... Different gear ratio, x-dimension, etc...
Okay, so sometimes...
So I ask again, "HOW IS IT A BETTER ONE"?
Regards

Better built? Phil is at the factory and watches the build very closely. Does not allow any shortcuts.
Better paint? Alot of boats are painted at the factory. Unfortunately, they are inferior. Harold's paint is alot nicer than the factory's. (Dave Hunter is awesome as well)
Sometimes faster? Phil's boats are usually dialed in a little better. Sometimes they are lighter. Sometimes they have a slightly higher X dimension. Bottom line? Nothing against the other dealers, but when you are a lower volume ,exclusive Cigarette dealer close to the factory, odds are on your side for a nicer boat.

Apparently none...
The question is Tank, What part did you not understand?
I am saying even though Lipship owners may demand a higher dollar amount when they go to sell, that doesn't mean they are going to get it. I have also had enough experience to know that they don't bring more than a non-Lipship Edition Cigarette. They are going to bring whatever the market will. To some they may be worth more, to some they may be worth less, to some it just really doesn't make a difference.
Like Fountain40ICBM already stated, "He builds a great boat but when you really look at it you can do all of his little special touches through the factory or another dealer." I'm not trying to take anything away from Phil and/or his abilities to produce beautiful boats, I just think at times you embellish a little bit.

Hey where's your boat?? :evilb: (Here comes the daddy comments) No i just think that people praise Philly too much and dont actually understand what he does and that others can do it as well. I said Ocean Performance to PremierPower by he may have to trade his Formula in and Ocean is a Formula dealer as well and could probably make him the best deal. Every dealer deserve a shot and someone shouldnt go by what others say! Find out for yourself!!
