It's my uncle's boat. Boat does 93mph in perfect conditions...90mph everyday of the week. Biggest difference with the 600s vs. the 525s is the acceleration...its night and day. Let me know if you need any other info on the boat. Boat has not sold as of yet...ad needs to be put back up. Thanks

Robert,

Is your uncle's name Vinny? Does he have the yellow/orange TG? If so, I called and talked with him about it and then followed up with an e-mail requesting additional pictures, but never heard from him. Within a day or so, it was not in the classifieds anymore....I assumed it was sold.

There was a 2006 38 Top Gun in the classifieds recently that I was interested in, but it dropped off yesterday. My question is this: the boat had 600's which seem to be very rare. Approx. how fast should the boat run with that setup and is the additional HP versus 525's worth it? Also, I don't recall seeing any of the TG's with AC or generator.....does Cig ever put them in TG's? Thanks ahead of time for the information.

I think Pier 57 has a 2005 39' with 525's and genset/ac??

Lip-Ship has one that can be bought right.

Our 2002 TG w/ 575'S went 91 mph w/ 5 blade Herrings. Weight was 13,208 lbs!

LOW 90's??? That seems a little high to me. I have a '97 straight hull, heavy gun. I have about 540 HP each side running labbed 26's at about 5350 rpm's. I can see 74 mph on my GPS on a good day. 525's may be a little more and 600's a little more still....but low 90's?? Maybe with a newer hull.

The only thing that's really the same when comparing a straight bottom TG to a newer 38 is the brand name.

"Joe's" 2007 TG with 600's:

Matt and Julie (Throttle-Up) are DYING to put a bigger set of wheels on her and take it to the Kilo Shootout, but, I'm not doing it.

Doing the math, it's safe to say the boat "will" run 102. However, at 98/99 MPH, it jumps on plane like a rock star and is an "all around" well propped poker run beast!!!

Here's the 98/99 MPH Pic.
