Sprayed imron on the gembles came out great. Laid down flat and shinty. The old TRS stuff is not perfect so the ruff shows but looks good.

what kind of prep do you have to do to weld cast ?

depends on what the makeup of the cast is. Marine is typicly better then others. its mainly watching the heat. better the cast better esaser it is. In this case it was simple clean the spot, get a torch and heat up the part and weld. Have to make sure you not to hot or it will crack. I did that with a alum mig gun. tig welding is better it uses less heat. heating the area befor helps the expanding metals from crackin. its the same for caset iron. you can also braze it.

caseyh 05-08-2014 08:45 PM

It's been poker run stuff non stop and a half iron man in there too. So it looks the same now as it did then lol. But it's back to work on it now.

LAriverratt 05-19-2014 10:08 AM

yea the ones the back...didn't they get blocked off due to water getting in through them?

caseyh 06-05-2014 07:15 AM

That are open. Bucks was closed up some. Going to run it and see what happens. If it need to be blocked or deflector made it will be done after.

Correct, mine were covered up quite a bit. They are now open again. I don't anticipate any issues given the waters we run in.

Pulled the carpet off the wall around the head. Now stuck with the choice of putting carpet, vinyl or spray gelcoat and paint it white. Has anyone done gelcoat there yet? That's the way I am leaning for a cleaner look and everyone will put there hand on it getting out the cabin. The carpit and vinyl always get nasty in that spot from being tuched.

I'm in the process of completing mine now. I went with the vinyl. Looks alot nicer than the carpet.
I kept the carpet on the hull sides as I still like that look.

caseyh 07-10-2014 02:24 PM

Ripped all the carpet out replacing it with vinyl also but around the head will be gelcoat and paint to match the rest of the cabin

caseyh 07-12-2014 10:02 PM

Worked on the boat all day getting it ready for new pain in the builge, cockpit , and cabin gelcoat and pain. Took more apart. Seem more and more stuff is coming off still and not going back together.
