Pulled the baffles out of the oil pans so I could wash them real good.
http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...psa6f4f4f9.jpg Dual trap doors in the pans http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...psbbc46acc.jpg New drain fitting welded on the bottom of the pan. They were leaving 3 quarts in the pan where they were draining it..... Then wondering why the oil temps would get hot :lolhit: That tends to happen when your close to a gallon overfull :angry-smiley-038: http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...psbc79b866.jpg Baffles Cleaned up http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...pse04e8f58.jpg All put back together http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...psb8691f08.jpg Checking the air gap with the new oil pump/pick up tube combo. Will be prefect when the gasket is in place!! http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...pse05b282b.jpg New paint job on the oil pans! http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...psdbc2c990.jpg |
Mark your doing a great job. All of your hard work will pay off. Now get back to work so we can put these bad boys on the dyno next week!!!

After the Shortblocks were assembled I check the rod side clearance. http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...psf6f6ce6a.jpg Head Studs Installed! http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps54f6d1dc.jpg Small Glimpse of what it will looke like when it's together! http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6ea3b31d.jpg |
Getting the oil supply to the Spray Bars figured out!!
http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3b8d3d97.jpg http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3f789865.jpg Oil Line made for the Spray Bar!! http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3bcb089f.jpg http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps092004b1.jpg http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps309fb6c4.jpg |
As promised!! I will show you how to put Gen 6 Valve Train into a Mark IV Block
If your blocks have these holes you are all set!! It is that simple!! Just remember Mark IV blocks use link bar lifters... Not the Gen 6 Lifters. You will use The Gen 6 Step Nose Cams, Gen 6 Cam Plate w/Bolts & Gen 6 Timing Chain!! http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps420dce9f.jpg Cam Plates installed, Joe had to machine around .005 off the plate to get the camshaft end play correct. He also put slots in the plates in an X pattern (Both Sides) to help them oil better!! http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6fa6bf1d.jpg Timing Chain installed and Checking Camshaft Endplay! http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...psc91081d6.jpg |

Joe Irwin @ Fast Forward 727-847-5777 can make these spray bars for anyone that wants a set!! They are around $320 complete with all the hardware and lines!! Super easy machining process to install them!! I am pretty sure he said you could even intall them at home for the people that are crafty like that!!

Joe @ Fast Forward Race Engines sent my Air Lids and Valve Covers off to get painted!! These things came out KILLER!! Thanks again Joe!! Exactly what I wanted 100%!

OH MY GOD!!! Beautiful!:eekdrop:
|
Coming together great.
|
We made everything we need to dyno the engines just like they run in the boat!! We finished up all the brackets, hoses, tail pipes with 02 sensors etc etc late last night!
We were able to fire it up and seat the rings!! Should have some numbers today. First Fire Off Video ( Click the link to view) http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...psf4620514.jpg On the Dyno - We have dyno valve covers on so the paint job didnt get messed up!! http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...psdc73bf31.jpg http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...psb5f99857.jpg http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...psea81aa95.jpg http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps242bf896.jpg |
Looks great. If you can Dyno the motor with and without the flame arrestor. Would like to see the difference with the low flame arrestor. I have had this discussion with a few people before
Keep up the Great work Mark |
1 engine down 1 to go. Lets just say it made pretty good steam. Marks all smiles!!! I will test the flame arresters back to back for you tomorrow and post results. Thanks Joe Irwin
|
nice looking monsters!!!
|
Well we have some 925's in the boat now!!
First Engine made 926hp @ 6100 rpm!! That was a super safe tune up with 93 octane pump gas and 6lbs boost! Second engine is fired off with the 925 tune up loaded into it so we can check it tomorrow.... It was getting to late to run the engine tonight. Thanks for posting the results. Not as bad as I suspected.

Awesome thread!! I realize how much I don't know about motors now! Great job..
Glad I bought a boat with only 12 hours on new motors.. no chance in hell i could do this! |
They sound great!

Glad I bought a boat with only 12 hours on new motors.. no chance in hell i could do this! Joe from Fast Forward Race Engines needs a lot of credit for my engines!! I probably have 4,000 text messages into him during this build!! lol He was there the whole time I built these... The engines are exactly the way Joe wanted them built!! |

Here are the dyno print outs! They made within 1hp and 1ft lb torque in the average power!! We set the motors up to cruise at 4500rpm and the power is damn near identical!!!
Engine A http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2638de7a.jpg Engine B http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...psa266d0ff.jpg |
Nice!! Where were they at prior to rebuild??

I only have 770.. Oh yeah and then divide by 2!!!! Lol We played with them on the dyno a little bit... Put a wicked up tune into it and spun it to 6500rpm to see if we could break 1000hp... She stops around 975 with 8lbs of boost, still on pump gas!! Then we detuned them to 925's so they were 100% safe and reliable!! |
forklift will be droped off at the house Friday morning!! Will be putting the engines back in over the weekend. Have a few details to iron out with my alternators and power steering pump but no big deal.
Here are a few random pics that didnt get posted while I was in a mad rush to get the engines built for the dyno date. Heads, Intakes, valve train installed. http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps696a8a0d.jpg Lokar Dipsticks, Fuel Pumps & Regulators Installed http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps34203b60.jpg |
Great numbers, and build. Like I said in past posts, a video once the engines are in the boat running in the drink would be the icing on the cake.:boat:
|
I have some Herings for Konrads you need to try.
|
Jimmy I need to get up that way one day with Ron and check you place out, all I hear is good things about your boat from Ron. Looking forward to seeing it. We can do lunch one day. Joe Irwin
