Pulled the baffles out of the oil pans so I could wash them real good.

Dual trap doors in the pans

New drain fitting welded on the bottom of the pan. They were leaving 3 quarts in the pan where they were draining it..... Then wondering why the oil temps would get hot :lolhit: That tends to happen when your close to a gallon overfull :angry-smiley-038:

As promised!! I will show you how to put Gen 6 Valve Train into a Mark IV Block

If your blocks have these holes you are all set!! It is that simple!! Just remember Mark IV blocks use link bar lifters... Not the Gen 6 Lifters. You will use The Gen 6 Step Nose Cams, Gen 6 Cam Plate w/Bolts & Gen 6 Timing Chain!!
http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps420dce9f.jpg

Cam Plates installed, Joe had to machine around .005 off the plate to get the camshaft end play correct. He also put slots in the plates in an X pattern (Both Sides) to help them oil better!!

Joe Irwin @ Fast Forward 727-847-5777 can make these spray bars for anyone that wants a set!! They are around $320 complete with all the hardware and lines!! Super easy machining process to install them!! I am pretty sure he said you could even intall them at home for the people that are crafty like that!!

mmb 05-26-2013 09:28 AM

Joe @ Fast Forward Race Engines sent my Air Lids and Valve Covers off to get painted!! These things came out KILLER!! Thanks again Joe!! Exactly what I wanted 100%!

Coming together great.

mmb 05-31-2013 09:12 AM

We made everything we need to dyno the engines just like they run in the boat!! We finished up all the brackets, hoses, tail pipes with 02 sensors etc etc late last night!

We were able to fire it up and seat the rings!! Should have some numbers today.

Looks great. If you can Dyno the motor with and without the flame arrestor. Would like to see the difference with the low flame arrestor. I have had this discussion with a few people before

Keep up the Great work

Mark

IRWIN 05-31-2013 08:14 PM

1 engine down 1 to go. Lets just say it made pretty good steam. Marks all smiles!!! I will test the flame arresters back to back for you tomorrow and post results. Thanks Joe Irwin

jeff32 05-31-2013 11:29 PM

nice looking monsters!!!

mmb 06-01-2013 02:17 AM

Well we have some 925's in the boat now!!

First Engine made 926hp @ 6100 rpm!! That was a super safe tune up with 93 octane pump gas and 6lbs boost! Second engine is fired off with the 925 tune up loaded into it so we can check it tomorrow.... It was getting to late to run the engine tonight.

Joe is going to run a back to back test tomorrow... From what I have seen so far they make the same power on or off..

Thanks Jason!! I am getting excited, I am thinking another week or so!! I'm not sure what feels better... The fact the boat will run soon or the fact that money spending has stopped!! :lolhit:

The Flame Arrestors Made a little less power. It is 2-3hp difference up to 4500rpm. It is 6-8hp difference from 4500 to 6000rpm. The average power numbers showed a 6 hp & 6.4 ft lbs torque average loss.

Thanks for posting the results. Not as bad as I suspected.

Get them in the boat now

Awesome thread!! I realize how much I don't know about motors now! Great job..

Glad I bought a boat with only 12 hours on new motors.. no chance in hell i could do this!

Scooter 06-01-2013 10:30 PM

They sound great!

Thanks for the videos, can't wait to hear them in the boat. nice work!

Joe from Fast Forward Race Engines needs a lot of credit for my engines!! I probably have 4,000 text messages into him during this build!! lol He was there the whole time I built these... The engines are exactly the way Joe wanted them built!!

Here are the dyno print outs! They made within 1hp and 1ft lb torque in the average power!! We set the motors up to cruise at 4500rpm and the power is damn near identical!!!

They were 850's

nailit 06-02-2013 07:56 PM

Wow, Nice gains!! You should pick up a few mph...
I only have 770..

Oh yeah and then divide by 2!!!! Lol

We played with them on the dyno a little bit... Put a wicked up tune into it and spun it to 6500rpm to see if we could break 1000hp... She stops around 975 with 8lbs of boost, still on pump gas!! Then we detuned them to 925's so they were 100% safe and reliable!!

mmb 06-05-2013 08:42 AM

forklift will be droped off at the house Friday morning!! Will be putting the engines back in over the weekend. Have a few details to iron out with my alternators and power steering pump but no big deal.

Here are a few random pics that didnt get posted while I was in a mad rush to get the engines built for the dyno date.

Heads, Intakes, valve train installed.

Great numbers, and build. Like I said in past posts, a video once the engines are in the boat running in the drink would be the icing on the cake.:boat:

I have some Herings for Konrads you need to try.

IRWIN 06-10-2013 08:33 PM

Jimmy I need to get up that way one day with Ron and check you place out, all I hear is good things about your boat from Ron. Looking forward to seeing it. We can do lunch one day. Joe Irwin
