Come on America was on Grand Lake most of her life, but it did spend a couple years in Mexico. I think it sold last year on E-Bay for 22k'ish and I heard it went to Arizona. It's still a lot of boat for 30k but looks like she is in need of some love'n.

Base model boat with no options sold for $215,000 back in Oct. 1981. I have the pricing sheet and sales brochure framed on my wall.

thought I'd give all a quick update. Bow thruster now has now been gel coated along with the rest of the bottom below chine. Whole bottom done because there were a few thru hulls not needed, I consolidated a couple and will be using transom mount engine intakes, not scoops on the bottom. There were also a few imperfections here and there that basically lead to a complete gel coat of bottom after repairs. Deck, cockpit and sides have been block sanded and ready for first primer coat. Picked up a nice aluminum trailer, will set boat on it soon since bottom is now finished; boat will sit about a foot lower once on trailer, a little easier access to deck and cockpit! Attached are a few recent pics.

Quick update. Block sanding on sides, deck, and cockpit complete. Same has been primed with Awlgrip 545 primer. Will block again!
At the start of this thread I mentioned I had picked up a couple Volvo Pentas; as time progressed I became a little more informed about marine diesels and what is best with each application. The Volvos were a goof, I will be selling them. They were basically the same weight as the Cat 3208's, 1950# each! but they had 75 more HP at 450 each. Problem was, the powerband peaked at 2600rpm, 200rpm less than Cats. If anything, I needed more rpm. I found some 600hp Seateks on OSO classified, with peak power at 3150rpm, much better!
I've attached a couple pics showing the priming and trailer now in place.

Forgot to mention, the Seateks are 1650# each! saving 600# on the tail.

3a's are baby 6's. They're going to work well with that boat. Coming along really nicely.
