I've still got to mess with the trailer registration.

My truck quit though, and I had to have it flat-bedded to the dealer. Lost all of the command center and the prnd12. (2010F150) Had head lights and radio, fuel pump would cycle, truck wouldn't start. Tried to jump, no luck. Once it got t the dealer on the flatbed, it decided to start. Oh well it's documented now. Hope it's not a shirt from my trailer. All in all, it was very successful. I had to check the engine compartment probably 50 times this past weekend.
The one thing I noticed is that I have to push the push to trailer button to lift the prop in the water. The lake was weedy and the channel was shallow so I had to put it up. The up on down on the throttle seemed like it was only for trims. I'm going to do some more investigation. I do need to get someone in there to fix the radio wiring. I am not good at that at all.

How's your project coming Sam?
Any pictures? Videos? Hope you get everything else worked out, but seems like you had a good time.
My old motor was pulled, and my new motor is going in the next week or so.

Ya this!
Once it hits the limit and won't go up any more you need to use the trailer button to raise it more.
I wouldn't like to do that though as when you put the drive at too much of an angle I would worry about being hard on the u-joints .
If I'm in a spot thats so shallow I needed to bring the prop up I'd be shutting down first.

Whats the problem with the radio?
There really isn't much to hooking one up and if you've done what you've done so far I'm sure you can hook up a couple wires to get some tunes!

Congrats on getting your rig going!

Sam, I've got some videos on my cell phone, and I tried to email them to myself, but they don't work. We do have a go pro though, think we'll get some video with that. It really turns heads on the lake. I'm glad that you're making progress. Make sure you align it when you have the new motor put in. From the research I did, that's really important!

It's monsooning here right now, no lake tonight. Tomorrow though, it's on.

Thanks! I'm happy as well! I've been using the push to trailer and keeping an eye on it. If we don't get rain soon, the lake that's close to my house (6 miles) will be out because the channel is getting shallow and weedy. Then it will be Lake Erie, (9 miles) but I've got to get my marine radio for that unpredictable lake. The weeds have taken over Chautauqua Lake (25 miles), even though they have been out with the choppers I hear. There's always the Onoville Reservoir, that's only 30 miles away lol!

I think that it needs new wiring, the wires that are there, are on leads directly to the second battery. I'm going to buy some speaker wire this weekend because the two speakers towards the cuddy don't have any wires connected to them. The wiring looks a little shoddy, so I'm going to redo it. There's this thick wire that's red, almost resembles a dog tie out cable that connects to the head unit. That was not attached initially, so I tried to reconnect it with no luck.

Also, the flip up light on the windshield doesn't work. There's a rigamaroo of wires underneath the windshield. So far, I've been taking the portable boom box, and that seems to work. This weekend though, buddy is bringing the bow rider down, so maybe I can get a hand with wiring then. I need to get a tester, and see exactly what is live and what isn't. No sense recrimping dead wires.

Before you connect that 8 gauge power wire you need to make sure that the amplifiers that it once powered are still there!!!
If not you could be reconnecting a fire hazard.
It does sound like you could use a helping hand from someone who has at least been down the car stereo road before.
Working on a boat stereo isn't much different.

Its alot of work to do a big system RIGHT but just start out with the basics for now--a deck and 4 speakers. I would never settle for a boom box out on the water when its cheap and easy to at least put a basic system in.

This is what I installed in my boat about 2 months ago. Alot of work but so worth it! This system just POUNDS! It adds tremendously to the overall enjoyment of the boat!

Yeah, I could use a lot of help with wiring, I've always been less than par at it. I think I'll you tube it and do some research. I want to build a box for the back seat, so I might as well make it a speaker box. It will have the true 80's system lol. I understand all of the logistics of it, I just need to determine what is live and what is not. My buddy brought down his tester, and wouldn't ya know it, there's no bulb in it. Ha ha ha. We were out on Lake Erie dinking around. Heard there was a poker run in the canal.
We just hung out in Dunkirk rather then travel too far.

There is a tree inside the break wall that is barely sticking out of the water. It's probably four inches in diameter and it will puncture someone's hull if its hit because it's almost under the water. This is at the Dunkirk NY launch. This weekend we're going to Sunset, no boat though. No radio yet.

Power Quest, yes I want it done right. I think I may just pay someone to wire it properly. The anchor light doesn't work either, and some of the switches are interesting. A boom box is okay for now. I do have the sony xplode head unit in it that came with it and there's also 4 new speakers. Only two of the speakers have wire to them. The fish finder doesn't work either, even though there's wires connected to that too. That's another thing to fix before tromping around in too many shallow lakes. We really need rain...

Yup, hour south of Buffalo. Syracuse is about three hours or so. I usually get up there once a year when the Big East Snowmobile Show comes along in October at the Oncenter. Then of course, Dinosaur BBQ! I have six lakes within a 45 minute ride.

So I was out on the lake this weekend, and coming through the channel the boat sounded like it wasn't running on all cylinders. Something popped in the back, and then it was okay. Anchored it to inspect, and I split the rubber on one of the thru-hull exhaust tubes. I took a picture on my cell phone but can't upload it. Tomorrow, I will take a picture with my camera. So I've got a dumb question.. is my exhaust a wet exhaust? I've been looking at replacement tubes for it. I think I'm going to do both. I don't know what the life expectancy is. (Think boat was stored for five years or so..) Also, I found this rewire kit online. It's like a plug in play, five gauges and seven switches for $199. Seems okay. Comments?
