I have put new lifters on a used cam many times and have never had one fail.
Try it , its hard w 575 pistons, the rods are heated to install the wrist pins.

Im looking at the pistons and they look ok. A little clean up and they'll run. New rings , bearings and a hone . That's what its gonna take. Crane now has their own break in oil. And the timing will be at 30 instead of where pfaff had er at 40

yea, its pretty much a kill setting for this motor. When refire it it will be there. Pfaff had it set at 8deg. !? Then they shut it off and could not turn the disrtib enough so they moved all the spark plug wires over 1 pin .(which turned out to be 40) Refired it, ruined the cam and sent me to the lake to run it for 45 min at 3000- 4000 rpms . On 7 cyl 😝 lol.

I find it hard to believe that ANY competent engine builder would make that mistake. If you can't get the timing you need it is OK to jump the plug wires to the next hole but then you still need to retime it. BUT the best way is to pull the dizzy and jump it one tooth in the direction you need.

yea, especially when 30 is plain as day on the balancer . I checked it before i took it apart. Balancer at 30. Disrtib rotor at 1. Why would these brain scientist make me set it at 8. Then put a paper clip in the wiring harness to time it . I even started the starboard motor and said . Could you please make sure the timing is right and just check it out. I cant remember but i think he did not check it and i just shut it off . But that one is right

I guess i wouldn't be so pissed about it if they would not have set me to the lake on 7 cylinders. The crank has grooves from cam debries . The cylinders won't hone. The pistons might work , but i can use them because it needs at least a 10 over bore. Then the crank has to be done and rebalanced if i go bigger pistons. All because of pfacking pfaff. They did offer to hone it for free but that aint worth a pot to piss in.
