I really miss riding wheelies on my mountain bike. |
I used to design bridge cranes as an engineer and what concerns me about your rig is sway control. The cg is quite high from the pics. Adding some longer sway bracing fore and aft would be a cheap insurance adder to not ending up like s30. Now that said, I'd never put up a pic of my rube goldberg crane that is about to go into service soon. Mine makes yours look like a work of engineering crane design mastery haha.

was on an engine stand, front wheel rolled over my shoe(pinned me to the stand) then the thing rolled down my side as I pushed as hard as I could to keep it off my chest.rolled down my side and as it cot by my knee,I heard 3 snaps and my leg was under and between the windage tray studs.broke knee in half,2 compound lower leg fractures and ankle got crushed and pulled apart.
had a bunch of surguries to put it all back together and got some cool tapacon looking screws and washers from my knee hardware, screws are about 4" long and titanium.guess they missed 1 as I tripped the metal detecture at Miami International airport.:D as of today, you'd never know my leg was crushed, and I haven't slowed down 1 bit.:D LOL. Wholly cow ! |
if somebody stole my boat, they drive it way easier than me.:D
for the record,,I did blow that engine up,guess it didn't like 6400 rpm's and 300°+ oil temps(yeah yeah, oil coolers were to small at the time).pulled engine on a sunday and rebuilt it in 3 days and back in the boat still warm from running it on the stand friday nite.boating saturday.called in alot of favors that week. |

So far I've removed the intake and other components off of the motor going to dyno. Ordered felpro 1211 intake gaskets for reinstall. Tonight I have to deal with the mess of removing the oil cooler and lines and continue prepping for dyno. Will have to do some grinding on the rear of the intake to make a flat spot for 1/4 npt tap.
I know how much we all like pics, here is all i have right now on my phone. I know i was running rich last season, you can see it on the intake valve on #7. I hope this year cleans that up some. That oil cooler set up is was my "genius" diy undertaking with the help of some pics off the net. I'm canceling that set up in favor of the square head mount. More of the goods have arrived. My questions:
1. How high on the dipstick do I fill with gear lube? 2. On the back plate there is one drain/fill hole about in the middle? Do i fill until that hole? 3. What is supposed to go in the threaded hole on back of intake? Looks like a compression fitting is in there now but for what? 2. Fill till it starts to come out 3. Boost Gauge hook up. Another thing on the 177's. Change the lube often. I used to change mine every 25-30hrs with every oil change. You have to suck the lube out. I used to just use a 30cc syringe with some tubing on the end. |

Just got done painting the one intake that's gotta go on for dyne. tomorrow the blower gets painted and next week it goes to dyne. here's a pic of one of the many little side projects going on.
3/16 acrylic cut with a battery powered jigsaw and shaped with a heat gun. Going to wrap it in matte CF 3m Dinoc. what you guys think on gauge placement? i was thinking symmetrical but I kind of like having two of the same gauge side by side for easy reference at a quick glance. The two outer I will keep as boost as those are the least risky out of fuel pressure, water pressure and boost. |
