Long day today, but finally got them both in the garage and started tearing down one so far. The one going to dyne. Boat sits in my grandma's side yard. once both motors are out the boat goes back in yard and motors go home, about 1.5 miles away, one at a time. Long process but it's done.

I like your gantry,but
I'd be putting jack boards under the angled supports and I would double up at a min the top beam.but thats me,,I already survived a BBC falling on me.I don't recommend it,,it hurts. |

Everything can always use that little extra to make it that much better but at what cost. this one here bolts together and comes apart for easy storage along the wall in the yard next to boat. Below are the plans for this that were created by a family member (an engineer). I added a support block on the vertical supports directly under where the diagnal supports rest, I think this goes along with what you mean by "jack boards". I'm sure since you've already had one fall on you, you will probably over build the next gantry to make sure it doesn't happen again but so far this one has been sturdy with no signs of stress. Now come next year and if the motors gotta come out again then I'll probably replace a few boards to freshen it up.

I will say that it was a bit scary to have to reach under the motots to remove the oil drain hoses while still in the bilge. I braced myself for quick egress in case the unfortunate happened.

had a bunch of surguries to put it all back together and got some cool tapacon looking screws and washers from my knee hardware, screws are about 4" long and titanium.guess they missed 1 as I tripped the metal detecture at Miami International airport.:D as of today, you'd never know my leg was crushed, and I haven't slowed down 1 bit.:D |
