So what was the reason for slow production at Donzi? I hope it is worth the wait!!

The reason I was given is that Donzi needed eight zr boats on the books before they could go into production with the zr models. My understanding is that they work on two boats at a time. Donzi is also running a lean production staff, where as many builders are closing down for a week or two. Donzi is still working with a leaner staff, which in turn doesn't allow for as many boats to be built at once.

I will be calling Craig Barrie monday to check in on the progress of the boat, hopefully everything from this point forward will workout. After talking to Craig on wednesday, I feel confident that Donzi will come through in the end.

The other thing I learned was that a few select people have been following this thread and my experiences. This may or may not have helped me, but Donzi is willing and has gone the extra mile for the custom paint and the 2010 model year. Hopefully they will throw in the extra options that I requested for my trouble and frustration.

Andy you will have a great boat. Its an amazing thing to order your one of a kind boat made just the way you want it. Last year I was also looking for a 27 to 29 single engine performance boat and was all set to buy an 08 27 ZR until I tried to get into the cabin ( I'm 6' 4 ) but it sounds like Donzi has addressed that issue. I ordered a Sunsation 288s with the Raylar 525/ CMI hydraulic steering and custom paint by Mitcher T. It was a blast speaking direcly with Wayne at the factory, Ray at Raylar and with Mitcher T.
congrats

Andy,

Hate to say I told you so, But it WILL be worth the wait. They are good people at Donzi working through some tough economic times like everybody else. Can't wait to see how it comes out!

Called Craig today, he wasn't at the factory when I called. So he didn't know what the status of the boat was, I will be talking to him tomorrow. Although Craig gave me the impression that the mold was ready to be sprayed if not already sprayed with gelcoat.

Talked to Craig Barrie today. The gelcoat has been ordered although he doesn't know where it is. It should have shown up eight days ago. So, as you can figure my boat has still not been started yet. Craig said that if the boat was started today, it may be ready for the forth of July. This is just crazy to think that when I ordered this boat I was under the impression that I would be picking it up in early April and would have run it this past saturday. Although, the end of April is here and the boat has not even begun production.

Frustrated just doesn't begin to discribe what I feel. I have never experienced such a roller coaster of emotions with anything in my life. The day I placed the order for the boat, I was so excited that I would have such a badass boat. Now I almost feel like taking a break from boating and walking away from boating in general for a while. If I walk away from the deal now, I lose the boat that I wanted and don't even know if I would buy a new boat. Who would have though in such an economic time it would be so hard to buy a luxury item. You would think that Donzi would be pushing this boat through to make a few bucks. I guess my money isn't that important.

That is terrible news.

I read through all this the other day, and don't think I caught where there was a deposit, and even if there was you should get it back.

Time to move on, and buy something else. I wouldn't let this kill your boating summer. There are so many great deals out there, both new and used, that you can certainly find something great out there, probably even nicer/bigger/faster than the 27 was going to be.

There is no way they shouldn't be kissing your ass and bending over backwards these days to sell you a boat. Give sunsation a call if you want a 27-28 with a single. They'll take care of you I'm sure.

I think something like this

http://www.offshoreonly.com/classifi...o28138-en.html

plus a whipple or Raylar 525 kit would look very cool in your driveway....in about 1 week. Sounds like this is a pretty trick ride.

I have only read rave reviews about Mohapac Marine and Sunsations customer service, it would be nothing like what you've gone through.

Sorry to hear this Andy. Gel Coat??? I would have never thought of that one.

Anyone who will still defend Donzi for the way you have been treated is a TOOL. I wish you all the lbest, my recommendation is buy a boat from someone who will take pleasure in creating your dream boat.
