Cool pics!!
That red and white 31 at the top of post 73 has the bimini top folded down on top of the back seat. Mine had that, it's sitting in the garage attic! Great stuff! |

Re: Excalibur questions...
Thanks David. That's my 24'. ( blue & white ) with cigarette looking logo. Note the Stellings headers on my 496. Sh'e a blast. You can ask Don Abel, the 24' you have likes to lean to the left after 68 to 70 MPH. She does NOT like much trim at all. But with the right set up and pipes she is a super head turner and great all around boat. Really quick out of the hole. Trim tabs really help, but just a tap or two of the switch while running at speed. I don't believe that hull likes much over 75 anyway. Some guys say they go 80 +... Not with me in it ! Grant.

Re: Excalibur questions...
How about the Hawk 40 in the classifieds? Nice looking, wonder how she runs with the 500Hp motors?
|
Re: Excalibur questions...
Both of the 24's we are doing are going to have 350's one is stock and mine I think i'm going to punch out to 300hp.with alpha set-ups they should do 60 or so which is about what my nova spyder with 2 350's did at double the fuel which is definitly an issue today!!!and for me 60-65 is fast enough, especially in the gulf of mexico where I am the wave and current directions sometimes comes from all over!!My nova in the atlantic was fine down here coming home one night I got tossed all over could not even play my cd's waves from EVERY direction!! Dave

Re: Excalibur questions...
David, truthfully a 350/300hp will be fine for what your looking for. My motor Dyno'd at 512 HP and its way too much power. 35 to 60 MPH is perfect for a 6'5" beam....Although your boat is not for the beginner either !

OK since this thread is "Excalibur questions"
What's with these fiberglass "pucks that were glassed to my floor? pay no attention to the white paint, but the factory gray bilge paint was over the top of these things, making me believe they were installed at the factory. They were about 6 inches back from the forward bulkhead in the bilge. |
Re: Excalibur questions...

The bilge was normal under two these things (one port and one starboard). They were glassed on.
I cut them off and ground the area smooth. Is there a chance that they mark a spot in the hull were there is no coring?.......so I can place my transducer there? |
Re: Excalibur questions...

Re: Excalibur questions...
That boat should move fast at only $ 50,000.00 Just a little clean up needed.
|
Re: Excalibur questions...
No, that is the secound dual cockpit boat that Don built for my dad. It is called "The Maltese Falcon". It has been down on Lake Norman for the past 12 years. It is owned by someone deeply involved with NASCAR and he just let it go to hell. She is on consignment from him and is now located back in Ft.Lauderdale. I think it would take alot of work to get her back to new...Its sad for me to see her that way...

Re: Excalibur questions...
Hey Don, is there anything you can add to, or correct me on about that boat? Grant. By the way Happy Belated Thanksgiving. To All.

Re: Excalibur questions...
Hey guys I love all of this stuff keep it up. I have a 85 27' Excalibur. I do not know much about the history behind these boats but have loved your posts. I do know that my boat was one of 2 on display at a Florida boat show and both of them were bought by friends in Oklahoma and transported there. These boats were keep on a lake in OK until mine was sold to a gentleman on Lake Texhoma. I bought this boat around 5 years ago now and love it. It is all original except it now has Gil headers on it. It is one with the silver belt and the sister boat that was with it had the burgandy belt. If anyone has any more history on this boat I would love to hear it. I will try and get pics up soon as it has the original excalibur logo on the side. I know that it is not an original and is from Wellcraft but I now feel like I own a part of some great history. Think that I will hold on to it for a while.

Re: Excalibur questions...
Post some pictures when you get a chance or email them. [email protected]
I am familiar with most Texoma boats and there are 2 27 Excaliburs that have dissappeared. I bet yours is one of them. Where do you boat? |
Re: Excalibur questions...
Used to be Texhoma then Lake Lewisville mine has not been in the water in 2 years. Is named QuickSilver.
|
Re: Excalibur questions...
ibsofast, what power setup do you have? What kind of speeds do you see?
|
Re: Excalibur questions...
I was told that because it was a Display boat that it did not come with the stock engine setup. I believe that it was a stock 400 hp 4 bolt main 454 that was in it. I have got that pulled out at this time in its place I have a 900+ hp setup that I have been thinking about putting back in it. It has a Bravo outdrive. I am doing some research now which is how I found this sight to see if it is worth putting that much power to it. I have never had it on GPS but I have ran 65 next to another boat that was on GPS. This was with low fuel and only me on board.
|
Re: Excalibur questions...
So around 65 with 400hp and bravo. That sounds good. I also have a 85 27 speedster. I have a stock 502 EFI with TRS and BW velvet drive trans. I haven't ran it yet so I was wondering what speeds I should see.
|
Re: Excalibur questions...
Can anyone tell me the max hp that a stock Bravo can take. Is there anything that I can do to increase it if need be?
|
Re: Excalibur questions...
There is no number set in stone, but I would imagine that a single engine 27 with 650+ HP is going to tear up a stock bravo sooner or later. I am running IMCO's on mine.
