Is that really Reggie? He looks like he came out of a wax museum. Cool video, what broke that time?

Look more like 5 blades, too close together for 4s. |

Actually, I have no idea if I can beat that Yami. But, you can bet we'll be finding out soon. you two drag race for the first 2000ft., that'll be fun. :D or to top-end. That'll be "funner". my bet is on the ZR by 3-4 sled-lengths to 70-75 or so due to 200lbs. less sled and 100lbs. less rider :p with similar peak HP and torque 150/100 once all that mass gets moving... the Yammi will close that gap fast, switch it up, and as the C-note comes and goes... It'll be the Yammi by 2-3 this is on hard pack studded appropriately in the snow the Yammi will put the power to the snow via a longer footprint and taller lug track... and the Kitty Kat will be dusted. then when the silliness is done and it gets choppy, rough in the corners, and technical... the shaking/vibrating "classic" caveman low-rider ZR torque-monster, and the glossy 700lb. far-eastern techno-whiz-bang cross between a Gold Wing and a Nissan Sentra ... can ride along with Staci. I'll be at the next intersection with my helmet off, drinking bottled water waiting... thanking and praising a list of people, including my shock builder (among others) like it's the Academy awards. :food-smiley-007: So when do we ride? Riders or posers? I'm off mon-fri. this week and things are pretty good on the hill. as always there'll be a few waterholes early (fun) but I understand the trees have been cleared and grooming is underway. See Saberman's report in the NY forum on HCS. I just got a couple small things to do. gotta open the chaincase again... want to red loctite and torque-spec that bottom gear bolt... 20 minute job wait a minute... why would I need a gear change? have I posted the pic of the Yammi sitting on the bottom (as in underwater) of the waterhole at Tabolt's corners last year? Somebody should have told him... That 700 lb. econo-car with skis ain't no water-skipper...Skippy. |

Bring it on Skippy Doo Boy .....
I have to admit it has been awesome up on the hill I already logged approx. 246 miles for the year not bad considering the season just opened. Here is a shot in front of The Sportsman on Monday opening day for the Hill. We rode in approx. 3-4 feet of snow .... the trails were single tracks wide .... Randy, I am off the 18th to the 26th lets figure out how to get together with you and Bird and ride. These are my 2 Yamahas .... it was freak'in cold Sunday night and early Monday morning ..... Or am I leaving her home? :D gonna be warm here sun/mon good oppurtunity to do a last pre-flight. a couple more cosmetic changes and some clutching/gearing mods I need to prove out since this pic... Since this page contains nothing but sleds so far, I thought I'd help keep it going. No pics yet for this year but the one below is from last year. Location: Copper Harbor, and yes thats Lake Superior in the back ground. Currently the sleds are setting in the garage lubed, and ready pointed out. With a little luck we should be in the UP between Xmas & New Years.:drink:

took the thick washer out from behind the upper ball joints and replaced it with a thinner machine bushing. Takes a significant portion of the negative camber out of the geometry. With my additional travel and ride hieght, the negative camber geometry is exagerated at the top of the stroke...
bottom line, with more ride hieght and still running the non-adjustable sway bar... more resistant to high-siding (which these don't do easily) at the apex when you go in too hot. another 1/8" of toe out also. building some piggybacks now to play with even though these rebound adjustable monotubes with Ian's build work just fantastic |

new for this year Staci's sled is sporting full-on C-36 remote ressie clicker adjust skid shocks and clicker monotubes up front.
as well as ELECTRIC START! I dunno if I bought it for her or me? It'll be nice not have to start it for her. and a handlebar bag to go with the rear bag. I believe it's best if she carries the luggage. :p |

I've gone from a 1.95 drive ratio to 2.05
with a green 160/300 secondary spring and knocking my ramps down it feels good. Doesn't stop pulling steady right at 8K with quicker acceleration and still a good backshift. Actually it feels like I have some "engine braking" effect off throttle which will make me smoother through the corners at higher speeds not having to use as much brake... another effect of these changes is spending more higher speed running up in the OD dia. of the TRA. This equates to as good or better high speed MPG and no top speed loss. It might even be a couple ticks faster because of the OD effect. Gotta mark the clutches with a sharpie to know how far the belt is coming up in the primary at WOT no rocket science here. Ski-Doos are typically undergeared from the factory and will pull more ratio. 'Ya just gotta "unlock" the additional performance that lurks. I've run a similar program before many moons (9-10 years ago?) with my Mach Z. Pulled harder and picked up 5 on radar in trail trim from 106-111, with little other tuning. Of course there was 150+ 2 stroke triple HP to work with. where there's only 108 HP here. |

'Bird? you gonna join us? gotta get some new action shots this year. maybe one of me waiting at that next intersection... Rode pretty much all weekend. The sleigh needs traction. No studs and the stock 1" track are no match for that engine. Still trying to decide on new 1-1/4" or studs on my 1". X-mass shopping is not done yet so I'll probably do whatever to it after X-mass. Sled is whicked sketchy with the lack of traction. Gotta go easy for now. Once it hooks on something though, it really gits it. Need to crank my suspension up just a bit, this weekend gave me a good shake down to get used to it. After being out of the sled program for four years, I'm a little apprehensive about hoggin corners at or near full-on. Just seems a bit bizzare, didn't used to to, but it does now. Maybe just need to shake out the cob webs,,,,,,,,,,,,,, or maybe I'm just too old!!!!:( |

I like the 353 .... nice touch ..... just think if Pete were to have put something on the side of his sled it would say "Lightning McQueen" (from movie Cars) .... Just kidd'in about the ride'in part ..... looking forward to Thursday .... Talk to you soon .... Jeff P.S. Oh yeah, about the Goldwing Nissan Sentra deal you were refering to ..... I think you meant to say something like "that sled is a combination of a Hybusa (fastest production bike) with the luxuries of a Lexus ....." :p |
'Bird, the new Camoplast Cobra is the ticket. Rave reviews over and above the Ripsaw.
I am running the stock 1" also. Not so bad at this power level. I've always been a shorter lug/aggresively studded kind of guy. Makes me prefer harder conditions for obvious reasons... If I was to make a change...COBRA. as far as cobwebs...they'll clear. I was a force last year in no time after 3 years off. Just gotta ramp up to it, but it's like riding a bike. |
Goose Bay last March.
You can hear Norm Horner who with a couple other A-bay locals took this to the next level back in the mid 90's. We used to trail ride over there on a Sat. make a few trail trim passes and enjoy the scene... The "holy chit" comment by Norm is about the dance to the right of the lane up-course when the boost starts coming on strong... if you watch closely in the slow-mo's you can see Parker's still carrying the left ski thru the traps. I heard he was into the 180's a couple weeks later. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1E7rtpIt7Y my gig was bracket racing on Henderson Harbor ice. That was a great buch of guys I used to ride, race, and party with back then, back when Louie owned the Westview. I was quite successful with my '95 Mach 1. In the weeds, slide lube pump, 300 steel ice picks, the whole bit. There are trophies collecting dust in a closet here somewhere. It was set up well and was very consistent. Seldom broke out and would often subsequent rounds just hundredths over my dial-in. My scanner is kaput or I'd post some good pics from those days... |
