Bravo X drive will be no faster than a std drive! With the 496 HO you should be around 60-62 mph. I've got around 525 hp in my 242 and I get around 65 in chop. With a little prop tweeking I should be around 67-68. These are heavy boats that need a lot of power to go fast. But when the waves get big you can still go fast!

Its hard to give an apples to apples comparison. My ss had a 350 mag (270 hp) and the LS has a tweaked 439 bbc @ 525hp with boltsers out of a '00 311. What I can tell you is that the LS is more rugged. If your going to push the boat to the limit the LS is a better boat. If you're floating around I'd rather have the SS. The room is very noticable! As others have said about these two boats its all how you use it most.

X drive will likely be a bit slower due to straight cut gears.

don't mean to change direction on yall but i have an 86 242ls with bolsters and twin 350s, SR-1? i'm not much of a boat person. only stuff i've owned was outboard skiffs. if anyone is interested it needs some work but i have harldy any money in it. would make an excellent project. i dont have the time or money to fool with it. bought boat and trailer cause friend wanted the trailer. boat is blocked in my yard. i'd love for someone to get it and fix it up. shame for me to let it sit. let me know if anyone is looking.

I have a 88 242 SS with the 454/bravo combo. I am in the early stages of a light restoration and I need to find the original front/back seat that came on the boat originally. It has a seat that looks like it came out of a fishing boat in there now. Also is there any sources for original formula parts for a boat this old? Thanks for any help.

Call formula, they maybe able to get you some things... As to the seat, thats going to be a real challange. I had an SS prior to my LS and I'll say the SS is a great party boat. You can load 7 people in the boat and be comfortable. No way I'm doing that in the LS.

Finally a few weeks from spring in the Midwest! I have a 1989 242LS. How hard is it to change out the seawater pump? I winterized it but didn't have a impeller with me. Where is it? Part #?
