Re: 292 FASTech anchor locker
I have a 382 (no anchor locker), and deploy and retrieve the anchor off of the side of the boat. I drop it off of the side, feed out the line, use the cleat at the base of the windshield to set it, and then pull forward slightly to relive the tension. Only then does someone go out on the foredeck to attach it to the bow cleat. We reverse the procedure to bring it on board. We store it in a heavy vinyl mesh anchor bag in the side compartment. The heavy mesh bags are made by Canyon Products - they're about $70.

Re: 292 FASTech anchor locker
I have a 271 Fastech, it does not have a bow anchor locker but I have real good luck with a Box Anchor (available in the back of Hot Boat). It folds flat for storage and comes with a ventilated bag that will hold it and 100 ft of anchor rode. Fits real good under the back seat. No chain is needed with the box anchor, never had it move when dropped, should be big enough to hold a 35 footer.

I have a 292 and just paid to have the "locker" rebuilt due to anchor damage. My 1990 Chris Craft setup was 10x better.
I'm also looking for an anchor that fits up front.

im so confused. lol. im selling a 29 fountain to go into a 292 and everyone is all over the place with possitives and negtives about the formula. took it for test drive and it was like driving a tank compared to my fountain wich i really like. but, want to get back into twin motors. so....fountain is for sale if anybody is interested btw. 716 864 6285....

Also, I never talked to a captain that didn't want to improve a vessel. Just because a captain doesn't like something doesn't mean he's condemning the boat.
One captains positive is another captains negative. It's all relative.... Another words, My 292 performs respectable, You think the 292 you're thinking of buying drives like a tank. Positive/negative???

i asked the guy if it had hydraulic steering. he did not know. the "tank" comment was meant to be a possitve remark. my fountain weighs like 5500 lbs as opposed to the 7000 on the formula. we were in the ocean and it rode noticably smoother due to the weight. i did not drive it so i could not notice if it had the steering or not. i actually just assumed it came stock until i joined on this thread and others. going to drive in in a few weeks and ill look. im guessing its not going to have it though.
