silent thunder platform ?'s
First of my formula is a 1989 206 w/thru hull exhaust the platform is starting to look faded and its starting to leak around the gasket. so...this winter I am planning on pulling it off and doing 1 of 2 things..
1) fixing the gasket and cleaning it all up then putting it back on
2) taking it off, cleaning up the transom , putting some nice tips on it and putting on one of those extreme marine powdercoated platforms. Has anyone done this? Do you have any pictures? Will I have any problems? and the last thing is how much does the silent thunder platform weight? also one from extreme marine? thanks alot for your help, Harry

If it makes any difference to you , after you remove your Silent Thunder your boat will look 2 feet smaller .Right now , with the platform , it looks like most 22'6" boats

Re: silent thunder platform ?'s
There are several threads on OSO about the very subject you're asking.
Do a search.
Platform weighs about 200 lbs.
I believe there are six bolts holding it to the transom.
Some people have had trouble breaking it lose once the bolts/nuts are off.
Some recommend having three very strong friends or a fork lift to catch it when the bolts are undone.
Contact OSO member Magicfloat, he is a Formula dealer and can order the new transom gasket and seals. Last I heard the price was around 25.00.
