When we had our 35 Lightning, tried to go thru progressive. Once I said I lived in NC, they said sorry, no boats over 30' could be insured by them in a "costal state". Didn't matter that we don't even live on the coast or planned to use it in the ocean. WorldWide and Total Dollar were both over $1600; Wordwide was right at $3000 and my driving record is perfect. Ended up going with Total Dollar and then ended up selling the 35 after a couple of months and later bought a 292 Fastech (which is for sale at a really low price, if anyone is interested). Got insurance thru state farm for that boat for $347 per year with no layup, and very low deductible!
